I'm not surprised, for one this a great phone and second it doesn't seem like T-Mobile anticipated the launch going this well. Most of the stores in my area had very few on release day (5-10 per store).

Lol, this is funny. Verizon and Sprint have plenty, yet T-Mo is sold out?? Doesn't add up IMHO. Considering the goof with the box saying dual core processors and all, I'll bet you their stock was low.

I want to upgrade but i refuse to pay $350 + tax out of my pocket. The way sales are going i can buy another playbook for that cost. How they sold out I dont know. Maybe I'm just being cheap but I'm trying to hold out for a cheaper price.

Who cares. This is the 9900/9930 forum and everyone knows, Blackberries should be black.

I think everyone got caught up in the white iPhone 4 delay/release. There is no other phone that will yield the same anticipation and desire.

I'm not sure about other cities, but I know in NYC every single T-mobile store received only 5 units each. That's probably also what happened in most other T-Mo stores, and is the reason they're listed as sold out.

Still got mine though, i'm happy

Bought mine through letstalk.com with a new contract for 170. Plus I got 20% off ($34) using the promo code "take20back" that I found on retailmenot here: Lets Talk Coupon Codes - all coupons, discounts and promo codes for letstalk.com

Maybe that 20% discount also works on full price phones with no contract? Someone should try it...

AT&T missing out indeed. I need this phone in my life. But I hope its way cheaper than what TMobile was selling them

I bought mine for about 600. You have to also consider the actual plan cost. People are focused on paying 100 or 150 less for a phone but ignore paying 30 or more a month over 24 months. I'm saving 1000 over a 2 year period in relation to a Verizon or AT&T plan.

Gotta remember that this is depot stock for online orders, not in-store retail stock. Depot warehouses usually carry a lot more, and they did manage to sell out the initial batch, which is very good news for RIM.

In hindsight, they probably didn't stock that many thinking that they weren't going to sell well given all the negative press lately. Still, a sell-out is a sell-out.

Edit: I think RIM should go after the 80% of the population that don't yet have a smartphone, rather than DROID/Apple fanboys.

Simplicity always wins the day. Most folks want a communication device that's easy to use...not another hobby.

What about the 9780? 9800? They did not come out 10 years ago.
