I would appreciate if you guys can help me decide, I wish to try out the Bold 9900 since it has been my favourite since 2012. But at the moment I have the passport and would moving away from passport to the awesome bold 9900 help me in being more productive? All I want from my phone is calls, text, great battery life and a browser that works just fine with whatsapp if possible...Also, emails which we know BlackBerry does best! I I know Whatsapp support is going to end for bb10 and BBOS. But, for bb10 there would be alternative ways to access whatsapp. Is there some way BBOS would be able to do the same?

I use both the Passport SE and the Bold 9900. I love both phones, and I'm a huge fan of the BlackBerry 10 OS. As far as your needs, here is what you'll miss using the Bold exclusively (my opinion): The Passport physical kb, with its prediction and flicking, is far superior to the Bold's. Passport battery life is far, far better than what's available with the standard Bold battery; and better than heavy-duty alternatives. The Passport browser is much more useful and effective than the Bold's.

On the plus side for the Bold, most heavy users can really fly on the Bold's kb. A fresh battery is easy to slip into the Bold, and you simply can't find a smartphone that will give you lower data charges than the Bold. The calendar and other apps are really efficient on the Bold -- lots of people like the Bold calendar better than the BlackBerry 10 calendar and also find it easier to use spreadsheets on the Bold. Finally, the Bold is a true one-hand device.

Yeah the passport is the best device I have ever owned. I always forget to use the swipe gesture on the blackberry passport keyboard, because typing on its KB for me is a breeze. The only thing that doesn't help me is the BOLD's keyboard. My hands are fairly large and the keys of the bold are too small when compared to PP. But, the bold looks like a classic BlackBerry and I thought it would help me avoid using apps or games and any other sort of distractions that I have with my PP. But from your opinion it seems PP is the one that still suits my needs. The device handles my emails like breeze with the browsers smooth page rendering. I guess, I would still stick with my PP. I don't understand why I often have this swift towards the bold, and then when I think about the features I would miss, I just take my steps back. This has always been the case. Any ways thanks a lot for your opinion and I really appreciate it :-)

+1 to what David and Michniks said.

The Bold really excels at text-selection-heavy tasks, it is compact, the keyboard is excellent, and the screen is amazingly legible, even in the brightest sunlight.

BlackBerry does do email well, but I think most users today are more accustomed to the performance and behaviour of ActiveSync-based email clients and the native gmail client, so I'm not sure that the BIS-based system will satisfy the average user today. It might. It might not. One size never fits all.
