Sweet! I was gonna get this the day it came out but I just realized my $75 upgrade discount gets bumped up to $150 on September 1st. So I'll have to wait an extra 11 days after release but I'll walk away with a brand new 9930 for $99! So excited.

I was eligible for an upgrade back in March. I'm glad I remained patient. It's even better that the 9930 is coming out just before I go to Europe. GSM and gangster pictures, here I come!

Not being mean, but how do you come up with $99.00? It's going to be $249.99 even with your 2yr upgrade. I'd recommend seeing if BlackBerry.com/tradup is still running (possible $50.00 or higher on old BB trade ups) also, if you're contract with Sprint has expired, they will do a $70.00 credit "Returning Cusmtor Appriciation". So if both those programs are in effect, you'll save $120.00...making out of pocket (less tax and activation fees) $130.00.

Thanks for the reminder about the "Returning Customer Appreciation" Lefty, I have been trying to find all threads regarding this so I can take advantage. Any advice on who to contact (online chat, phone, in-store, etc) to obtain this credit?

Chatted online with Sprint, and got nothing. Basically, told me that there isn't much she does. Here is the transcript.

Jessica: Thank you for visiting Sprint. What questions can I answer for you today?
You: I am thinking about upgrading my phone within the next 2 weeks and I would like to know if their is any offer that you might be able to extend to me, like a returning customer credit or service credit, to go ahead and renew my 2-year contract?
Jessica: Unfortunately, there is no such credit offered online but we can waive your activation and shipping charges if you upgrade online today.
You: There is a new phone coming in the next week or so that I am waiting to upgrade too. But thank you for the offer, I have seen advertising from Sprint in which they offer a $125 service credit for people who switch from other carriers to Sprint, is there a way I can obtain this credit since I have been with Sprint for 8+ years?
Jessica: That credit can only be obtained if you port number and activate a new line of service with Sprint.
You: Ok, I will just hold onto my old phone then and find the best carrier deal in the coming months to switch, thank you
Jessica: You are always welcome. I wish I could help you regarding this but I am just an Order Specialist. I can only navigate through the website or give information about our products.
You: Ok, I understand, thank you for your time
Jessica: You are most welcome. I would recommend you to contact our Customer Care to check if they have any such credit to offer.
Jessica: Please contact our Sprint Customer Care by dialing *2 from your Sprint phone. Our Customer care representative will be happy to help you. You may also contact them at 1-888-211-4727. Hours of operations are: Monday - Friday: 6:00am - 12:00am EST, Saturday: 7:00am - 11:00pm EST and Sunday 9:00am - 9:00pm EST.
You: Ok, thank you, one last thing, I have seen a Sprint ad dated yesterday, that indicated the new Bold 9930 is releasing on August 21st, can you confirm this date?
Jessica: Unfortunately, I am not able to confirm any information regarding potential upcoming devices.
    You: Ok, thank you

I just spoke to a Live Rep. through customer service. I was curious about this Sprint loyalty credit so I asked if the credit was separate from the 2 year upgrade pricing I get from the Sprint Premier rewards. He stated if I use my Premier status to purchase the Bold 9930 that I would receive an additional 75$ off the 2 year contract price. So, 174.99 isn't going to be bad come August 21st. I see sunshine, rainbows and BBM in my future LOL. Made sure he notated my Acct. too LOL.

I'm glad you mentioned this about the premier rewards! I've been with Sprint for 14 years now and may as well get something for it! I'm definantly going to give it a try! I have to remember not go into the store so desperate to buy the bold 9930 and use my resources to get the best deal possible! Thanks!

Hey, both my guys work a T-Mobile retail store. They are the manager and assistant both of them are attending training for the 9900 next Thursday(8/18). So you are in there with us bro.

That means I will finally have it for myself also. Won't be able to take it home but usually they let me have it til the store closes. That's 10hrs of play time per day til I get my 9930. Something is better than nothing.

You're misreading that...$499.00 Original price, less $150.00 2yr upgrade/renew or new contract...makes it $350.00 less $100.00 Instant savings..making it $250.00. Wish it was just $99.00, you're misreading it, not tryin' to be a di*k, but I'd feel bad for you if you just took little over $100.00 to a Sprint store and found out it's actually $249.99 plus your state tax and $18.00 activation fee (which they'll just charge to your next Sprint bill). Again, when Sprint launches the Bold 9930, go to BlackBerry Trade up program and they'll give you at least $50.00 on your old BB device (they send you a Visa gift card, I believe). Also call customer care support and ask (IF?) Your contract has expired and will be resigning with Sprint, they'll credit your Sprint account $70.00

    $249 with new 2-year contract - $150 upgrade discount = $99!
    Check out the flyer again.

    $249.99
    Save $250

    $499.99 Original Price
    -$150.00 2-yr Savings
    -$100.00 Instant Savings

The 150 credit that Sprint gives you is already included in the $249.99 price as tliolos stated. The best bet for getting it at less than $249.99 is trying to talk to customer service to get the a returning customer credit or atleast the activation fees waived and hopefully at least a $50 mail-in-rebate with be included as well to bring it down to the standard $199.99 that we normally see on most top line phones.

That is what it sounds like to me, but maybe if you get someone willing to work with you, they might still give you the credit.

I e-mailed Sprint's Customer Service this morning about the $70 credit and any credits that they might offer me in general, and here is the response that I just received:

Thank you for contacting Sprint regarding phone upgrade.

As a loyal customer, your line #********** is qualify for the Sprint
upgrade program. By signing a new two-year agreement, you will receive a
    $150.00 rebate.

You can purchase a new Sprint phone at your convenience:
    * Shop online at sprint.com/phones.
    * Stop in one of our Sprint retail stores; visit sprintstorelocator.com
to find a location near you and schedule an appointment.
    * Call our sales department at 1-800-777-4681 or call *7 from your
    Sprint phone.

We also offer $70.00 service agreement renewal credit to renew the two
year service agreement. If you renew the service agreement on the line
#**********. You will receive the $70.00 instant credit. Please, note
Service agreement Renewal offers cannot be stacked with any other
service agreement renewal offers including phone upgrade offers.

will renew the agreement and apply the $70.00 credit on the account.

We value your business and appreciate the opportunity to answer your

So, from my understanding of this response, I can get the $150 credit if I upgrade my phone with a new 2 year contract or I can just renew my contract and get a $70 credit, but I can't combine the 2 credits to total $220. I sent an e-mail back to the rep to get further clarification, but that is what I understood of it. I will let you all know once I get a response.

This also just came up on BGR:

Sprint to end port credit promotion ahead of schedule

Apparently, Sprint's promotion to give other carrier's customers a $125 service credit that was supposed to run through the beginning of September is being taken away early. But according to the article, people can still get it if that mention that they had already seen it and want to have it applied. So, people switching can still obtain it, but they aren't going to advertise it or just give it to you, you have to ask for it now.

OK, I just got off the phone with Sprint customer care support, and here' what they told me. Sprint may? Be getting the BB Bold 9930 earlier than thought...possible next week, but DEFINATLY Sunday August 21st. Also, IF? Your contract has expired and you're doing month to month with no contract like I am, You can call Sprint at anytime and renew your 2yr contract and the day you do, is actually your begin date (eg, Aug 11, 2011 to 08/11/13) you will receive a $80.00 returning customer credit on your next bill (this is totally separate from your upgrade, which you'd have of course) When you purchase the BB Bold 9930 at a Sprint store the less the $150.00 2yr upgrade and unfortunatly the Instant Rebate exp 07/31/11, but the mail in rebate will only be $50.00 (Sprint will mail out Visa or Mastercard Gift cards $50.00) so in the end, YES, the BB Bold 9930 will be $199.99 plus state tax and store activation fee (billed on your next months bill) but then your next months bill will be $80.00 credit less $18.00 activation fee...$62.00 My cost in Michigan will be $199.99 plus 6% sales tax, approx. $212.00. And I have 1500 BlackBerry Anytime shared mins w/ fiance (avg. Bill plus tax $130.00, less the $80.00 for September's bill will be around $68.00) Hope that helped those here in Michigan...But YES! The Sprint BlackBerry Bold 9930 is just within 11 days or less baby! The RIMPIRE is phasing up the DeathStar as we speak..."Live Long, and BlackBerry!

NO! If you are eligible for an upgrade, you will get $150.00 normal upgrade on your new device now...the returning credit of $80.00 is totally separate from your upgrade...its for your renewing up again with Sprint another 2yr contract. Be on the safe side, call Sprint customer care support and see if you can talk to a supervisor (more experianced) and let them know your situation.

Really won't know until the BB Bold 9930 is offically launched and in Spritns CSR's systems.

Ugh, well this is pretty bull****.

I don't understand why new customers can get phones for ridiculously cheap while the loyal customers who have been with the same carrier for years end up paying the same if not more for the same phone come upgrade time.

For example, a new customer can get an EVO 4G right now for $99 with a new 2-year contract. If I wanted to upgrade to the same phone with the same 2-year contract attached to it, it would cost me $299 even AFTER my $150 upgrade discount. WTF?

I'll still fork over the $250 for the 9930 cuz my Tour is falling apart (cracked screen + broken speaker = no trade up program refund either) but I'm not too happy about the rather deceiving price point. ****, if I really wanted an EVO I might actually save money by canceling my contract, paying an ETF, and then getting the phone at the "new" customer price. That's pretty screwed up if you ask me.

    EDIT: CrackBerry censors "H E L L", seriously?
