AGAIN...I PREFER A QWERTY KEYBOARD AND A BLACKBERRY!!! again, I've had upgrades now since LAST June, I could have picked up an Evo 4G but I dont care for a touchscreen...all I am saying is that we're consumers FIRST! not a BlackBerry cult I didn't relize on these sites that RIM can constantly screw up and keep getting praise...for what? being at least a year behind in smartphone technology. So MOST consumers in North America are just sheep because they have turned thier back on old RIM devices for faster and flashier? it's called living with the times...you snooze, YOU lose. If people are sastified with plastic cheap Curves now and 2yr old Bolds, then fine. But I expect MORE from a once proud industry leading smartphone platform that made the iphone blink, not sit on thier a**es and watch it all fade away. I'm sure I'm not the only one who loves thier BlackBerry but just wants a current device that I can be happy to have for 2yrs. really not asking for much.
You are right, in that we should not stand by while a company doesn't seem to be meeting the demands of its consumers. However, I don't believe the 9900/9930 to be a year behind schedule. Yes it is not QNX, we've discussed the fact that RIM values security over speed. The BlackBerry OS is "old" with new refreshes that speed it up, add great new features. Now they amp it up and tack on some state-of-the-art hardware. Granted, some phones have dual-core processors, but they are infants in the smartphone biz... I give RIM credit for taking their time, they don't jump onto something too quickly and risk flaw after flaw as with Androids battery / memory / data credential leakage. They also stick with what works, just as Apple does now, keep refreshing the old OS, Apple is now on its 4th iteration of iOS, some people think it is getting stale.

Point being, RIM moves where it feels it should go, Apple moves where they need to go... Right now, RIM is the only major company not being targeted for security flaws which compromise user data. The only issue they have is with other countries who want more control over their people's lives, and RIM won't budge on that front.

RIM is still at the front of development... The different being, they are putting out reliable devices that will last 2 years, if not more. So many devices need annual upgrades simply because they didn't take the time to make something rock solid, they only leap into market to ensure they make a buck.

Personally, I'd compare it to the major drug companies... RIM is Asprin, it is old-skool, but it works, has some weird effects but none that are life-threatening, it gets the job done. Apple/Android (two major competitors) are Ambien / Chantix, drugs that take current research and trendy medical problems and immediately slap a label on them to put to market, only to find out they cause suicidal thoughts, heart problems, kidney failure... the list goes on. So, why are Apple / Android so popular, despite their obvious flaws? Propaganda!

    \end rant

You make sound points, but i differ on the propaganda, that's a word normally linked with a more socialist-facist mentallity, I'd say more of giving the people what they want a soild product, in Apple's case, as been rock solid for at least two years. Sure in a free market you'll get the "I just have to have this!" product, and many will be drawn to it, but again, we're free thinking consumers who normally, if a certain product is very good, we have a certain brand loyalty, and unless some sudden change in it's quality or something else catches our eye, we tend to be brand loyal. The US for the last 40 years has been nothing but "get it out, sell it cheap and hope they come back" I'm just one person standing back from all that is the CRACKBERRY hooplah, and asking real valid critisims of a faultering RIM, and hoping that like Sprint's VP of P&D said of RIM:"Theyre making great products. Right now you see that they are losing some market share to some of their competitors, but Ive seen this story play out several times over. There hasnt been anyone in this industry that youve seen from a platform standpoint, that hasnt lost market share once they have been on top. Its very cyclical." That RIM does find it's footing, and can get out of this
malaise they seemed to have found themselves in. Only time will tell.

I just want to point out that your trusting BGR when they say a Sprint iPhone is coming, but don't believe them that the 9900 is delayed until August. No one knows for sure that Sprint is getting an iPhone just as much as no one knows when the new Bold is coming out.
Maybe the hotly anticipated iPhone 5 won't be an iPhone 5 at all.

But it might be available on more carriers.

The emerging theory, based on reports from industry analysts, is that the next model of Apple's smartphone will be called the iPhone 4S and be an update of the current model, not a radical advance.

Multiple sites this weekend were citing a report by Peter Misek, an analyst with Jefferies & Co.

"According to our industry checks, the device should be called iPhone 4S and include minor cosmetic changes, better cameras, A5 dual-core processor, and HSPA+ support," Misek wrote in a report Friday.

This has been in Forbes.com, Buisnessinsider.com, cnbc.com and cnn.com, not to mention a few others, while the "Unconfirmed" source from bgr.com on OS7 devices delayed? is just from them.
