So if the Bold 9650 (that I have) has a width of 61mm (2.4") and a pretty decent amount of the sides are the chrome bezzle:

Then how much bigger actually did they make the keys for the Bold Touch seeing as it is 66mm but the bezzle is a LOT smaller too. I'll figure out the mathematics, but I figured that I wanted to include you guys into the discussion to get some insight [; (Just another thing to talk about while we wait)

I'll start you off with the the specs/equation. 66mm-61mm=5mm (add maybe 3 mm because the bezzle looks about that much smaller) so 8mm = about 13% larger keys.(I added 8mm to the 61 that the 9650 is to get 69mm, of course the bold touch is not 69mm, but with he smaller bezzle it appears as if you will gain 3mm extra, so I simply did 69/61=1.131=13.1%) Since there are 10 keys in a row, each key is like .8mm bigger (width wise). Is that 13.1% bigger buttons(about .8mm bigger on each button) that noticeable when typing? those of you who have used the bold 9000 etc, some insight would be nice.

PS. Feel free to check my math, just did it real fast.

You will notice the key layout slopes, or curves. So, it math won't stictly work out without the slope angle. They should be similar to the 9000 (feel and use wise) which will be great.

I see what you mean, it would probably end up being a tiny bit more than the 13% then. I wish I could try out a 9000 somewhere to get an idea.. I have never seen one or played with it in person :/

I'm not great at maths, but I did use a calculator for this one :P

I did some working out, the new 9900's keyboard is (rounded) 425% bigger than the current 9780. So it is quite a bit more roomy. Should be nice I think... I always thought the 9780 could have a bigger keyboard.

Mind explaining how you went about getting that percentage..? You do realize that 425% bigger means that it is 4.25 times bigger which would be like as big as the playbook..? I have a feeling you messed up somewhere with a decimal point or something :X

That sounds great! I was going to get a BT keyboard for my Playbook, this will be an all in one device! Can't imagine what it will look like hanging off my belt though!

It would obviously look like "God" as an electronic device... RIM simply will never make it because they do not want to END cellphone competition as we all know it. Simple actually

Oh yeah. Holding my old 9000 up next to the OP's pic, it looks like the outside ring on the 9900 is thinner and the keys might spread even closer to the edges than the 9000.

When I hold up the 9000 and start thumbing the keys I realize how much I miss it. Really can't wait for the 9900.

Thanks for this post, it gets me very excited! So it might be even BETTER than the 9000 (key size wise) I CANNOT WAIT ANY LONGER!

You will find that the keys of the 9900 are far superior to any other Blackberry because, like the original Bold 9000, they offer a perfect ergonomentric fit for typing. It's not just the extra size, its also the slightly angled shaped keys which offer a more tactile response.
