really, im glad for you, i could get a tablet too if i wanted, but wont do it for the reasons i already stated above
i'd just like to hear some of you're reasons why it's so useful to you04-03-11 03:49 PMLike 0 - From what I understand is it's thinner, but has the same size keyboard as the Bold 9000. That's good enough for me. The keyboard is what I love about the Bold 9000. I can't wait to get my hands on it, I hope I won't be disappointed, but from the sounds of everything from sources like CX and others, its supposed to be really promising.04-03-11 09:31 PMLike 0

Just off the top of my head. And before you say it, you could not easily do anything I stated with a phone.
I miss the keyboard and form factor of the Bold 9000, but like the touch interface, so the Bold touch and the Playbook are going to be a great combo for me..Last edited by Najo; 04-04-11 at 10:55 AM.

Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com04-04-11 11:01 AMLike 0 - That is great news. I cant wait to have this device. I wish the back cover was leather/pleather like the 9000 though. It had a great feel and a good grip. If not, I just hope it meshes all together well. I only have to continue to impatiently/patiently wait.........................04-04-11 09:44 PMLike 0

So about upgrading or not.. I feel that although QNX is on the minds of many people, the Bold Touch is a new generation of phones.. just the quality of the phone.. Its build very touch opposed to EVERY OTHER PHONE THEY HAVE MADE... Maybe the normal sedonia and curve don't seem like that much of a necessary upgrade when waiting for the QNX phones, but to be completely honest, my 9650 is really clunky.. It works, and it works GREAT.. it is just so clunky.. when up against my cousins normal torch, the tiny bit higher processor makes ALL THE DIFFERENCE.
To be COMPLETELY honest as an avid blackberry 9650 user, this Bold-Touch is a MUST HAVE upgrade when waiting for the QNX phones.. Whether it be a year or even two, there is no way a 9650 will last me that long.. Remember how long it took after the 9650 for a new phone like this one to come out? oh yeah.. a year and a half.. So by the time the new "QNX" phones come out, I'm sure those of your contracts will be close to up again and its not like it would be that big of a deal to pay an extra $100 because only 1 year is up or whatever... Not to mention resale on the Bold-Touch should be just fine if old curves and bolds resale is completely fine as it stands right now.
This is all, just my opinion and an educated guess04-04-11 11:05 PMLike 0 - It's funny, when looking at pictures/demos of the phones that were just leaked, you can tell that the "touch" has the old cheap looking metal painted plastic and they did not decide to put in a 1.2ghz processor or as high memory as they decided on with the Bold Touch.. The Bold Touch with the semi aluminum looking bezel (kinda hope it is aluminum) along with the touch screen and upgraded processor/memory/everything.. I feel as if this is going to be rims new "baby".
Personally, I'm going to get a bold touch because I like having a keyboard and this model simply gives me more options and a higher spec in that form factor, but I think it is wrong to write off the other 6.1 devices on the basis of random leaks and grainy videos.04-05-11 03:48 AMLike 0 - After much thought...... I have decided to get the bold touch when it comes out under a one year contract. Its worth the extra $70 to be able to upgrade to QNX when it comes out, and I'm tired of trying to talk my wife into taking my old blackberry's so I can upgrade under her line.04-05-11 06:20 AMLike 0
- Where are you getting your info on the processor and memory, all the leaks seem to indicate they are all using pretty much the same innards and as far as the plastics vs metal issue, I think I'd be glad they weren't using metal on the larger screened devices because those are already heavier anyway.

Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com04-05-11 06:33 AMLike 0 - I will definitely try it out when it is finally out, but the more I think about it, the more I think the touch screen is a bad idea. I'm thinking it will be too small of a screen to to anything too usefull other than maybe swiping between photos or moving up and down on web page.
Plus, why use the touch screen when the full keyboard is there with the trackpad which is much faster and efficient to get things done?
Mind you, it's not like you have to use the touchscreen so you could just ignore it and take advantage of the better keyboard (God, I miss my 9000 for that keyboard), and larger screen.
Guess I'll just have to wait and see...04-05-11 07:18 AMLike 0 - I will definitely try it out when it is finally out, but the more I think about it, the more I think the touch screen is a bad idea. It's funny that a few people say this.. I mean I have had the Bold 9650 for about a year now (got it on the official release date) and guess what.. Pretty much EVERYONE who has asked to see my phone, one of the first things they do is go click the screen with their finger thinking its a touch screen... There are very few people who are disappointed or confused about the addition to the touch screen but atleast think about it this way:
1. If you are really that much against it, you can always just not use the touch screen part of the phone.. its obviously not what makes the bold-touch phenomenal. You can't add a touch screen after the fact so just having it and not using it wont make a difference or hurt anyone.
2. Say the majority of people really like the implementation of the touch screen, As I mentioned before, the majority of people who use my phone (older - 30+ and younger 15-25) all strangely click my phone as if it is a touch screen when guess what? They don't even have a touch screen of their own!
3. What I am trying to get at is, majority of people like the touch screen implementation, whereas very few do not, so why would rim take the chance and risk not putting it in to make a few people happy whereas its actually something that doesn't matter at all because it can simply just not be used by the people who dislike it!
It's just where smart phones are moving towards and I am in NO WAY a torch enthusiast, I LOVE my candybar 9650 and will never go to a sliding/flip/all touch screen phone again... The touch screen will just help in situations like zooming in on a website or scrolling up and down or just little things like clicking an icon when your track pad is far out of the way or just i don't know, but i can GUARANTEE YOU that as much as you might "dislike" the idea now.. After using it in an every day part of life... You wont be able to live without it.
That's just my two cents04-05-11 07:52 AMLike 0 - Guess I'll see... I know I was disappointed with the Torch and its touch screen implementation which is why I went back to a Bold. I think for certain things it can definitely be handy (things where broad gestures can be used), but for things with finite control, well, I just hope they do a better job then they did on the Torch because it often misread my controls and the Torch screen size is about twice as much as the Bold Touch will be.
But again, if I don't like it, I just don't have to use it... at least with the Bold Touch, you aren't sacrificing anything, whereas using just the trackpad and keyboard on the Torch was a bit of a waste of the device form factor with always having to slide it out.04-05-11 08:56 AMLike 0 -

04-05-11 09:32 AMLike 0 - The Bold Touch is nothing like the Torch. There's absolutely no significant reason worth turning off the touch screen. You won't be typing on it (unless you want to). It's purely to make certain things more convenient like moving apps around, menu navigation, and web browsing. It's not the main functionality. People need to start opening their minds.04-05-11 02:09 PMLike 0

Also the leaked slides showed the full touch having the best specs of them all. As for a cheap look, that's your opinion. I think the phone looks great..And it was also said that this will be their thinnest device so you may want to get your info straight before posting a rant like that04-05-11 11:49 PMLike 0 - A year and a half to come out with a new one? The bold (Sprint's) hasn't even been out for 11 months, and Verizon's came out after Sprints, so if we had to wait a year and a half, we will be waiting until november or december (not happening according to the leaked slides).

All i was getting at was I believe that there is no reason to skip on the bold touch because it looks like a great promising phone and if you have to have it for a year then upgrade to a new QNX phone, there is no big deal price wise. I am not bashing any of the phones, it just came out a little strange, didn't help that i typed it during my calc class on my phone.04-06-11 12:03 AMLike 0 - The Bold Touch is nothing like the Torch. I think it's important to remember there's a difference between being close-minded and just having different preferences. Not everyone is going to see things the same way or have the same needs...04-06-11 05:42 AMLike 0 - i was so excited for the playbook, but once I saw the specs for this, then I don't think I will be getting the playbook anymore. I will see how easy it is to read stuff from that phone.04-06-11 07:07 AMLike 0

I am really excited about this device, but greatly disappointed about not having qnx or be able to integrate it in future os release (since the rumour says qnx requires dual core). I'm still hoping for version 3 of bold touch with qnx end of 2012.
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com04-06-11 10:53 PMLike 0 - sleepngbearRetired ModeratorIts the same screen size and resolution as the original bold 9000. I don't think you'll see much difference. The only thing the bold touch will allow you to do is pinch-zoom. Which can get annoying really fast if you have to do it constantly (if you have ipod or iphone, you'll know what I mean).
