I think your gps is on, maybe something to do with geo-tagging?
Means Gps lock
Yep, a GPS is enabled and in use by an app.
Hmmm.. I turned off my geo tagging & location service already, but that sign still there.. Any other suggestion?
It means you have gps lock already.
So that means i cant get rid of that sign? That sign is pretty annoying actually..

The plain target icon (what you have) means that your GPS is set to E911 only. On a GPS enabled device this icon will always be up there in the corner.
When it has the 3 lines next to it is when your GPS is set to Location On.
Here's a recent blog post about icons BlackBerry Quick Tip: What's this icon mean? | CrackBerry.com
I think it means that you can be found by emergency services if you need it.
Options>>Device>>Location Settings>> Change Location Services to OFF. If you want to, you can also disable Location Aiding and Location Data.
I don't have this option on my 9930
What happens when ya type Location in the homescreen?
It doesn't actually let you change the location settings to off. It has to be either E911 or "Location On"
Oh I can get there, but for Location Services, my only options are "Location On" or "E911 Only" I don't get an option for Off.
It offers Location ON and Location OFF
I have a 9900 though, I am not sure why it's different.
Might vary based on the os revision. The location settings have been known to vary slightly in different os builds.
Could be, I am using a Voda OS. They don't use 911...LoL
EDIT - I can't recall the last time I could not turn off my location services/GPS
Well that's interesting then... I can't remember the last time I was able to turn them off.
Maybe it's a carrier thing?!?!?
is the symbol with the 3 lines on the side a battery drain? mine is on all the time i feel.
.. correct me if I am wrong.. the crosshair icon only appears in CDMA devices...
You are correct, on my 9900 which is a GSM version...i do not get that crosshair symbol and my location services are all set to enabled.
.. Good to know the truth is out.. Lol.. So for those with a CDMA device, you guys can expect the crosshair icon to show on your home screen and there's no way to get rid of it even if you set the device's GPS to E911..

What does the BB symbol mean in the top right hand corner?
Means you are connected to BIS
And that has to do with what, email? Lol, what's the exact definition of BIS?
