That trick didn't work on OS5.

For OS 5, just dial your voicemail. During the call take pictures.

You won't hear the shutter sound at all.

the reason phone manufacturers put that shutter sound there w/out the option to disable is because creeps would take pictures of unassuming people on the street, subway, changing rooms, etc. Why would a normal person want that disabled? hmmm.....
How about taking pictures of rocks and sediments in class (petroleum geology) and when everyone start clinking it is annoying. We are allowed to take pictures in class...

There are cameras still out there with shutter silence and ALL my iPhone friends have their shutters to silence. This is sooo unfair for Bold 9900 users.

From time to time, I take photos of things on my desk. I don't particularly want people hearing my camera shutter going off.

Not to mention every digital camera I've ever owned has been able to mute the shutter.

Is there a fix for this yet? Or at least a different sound?

    This camera noise is awful.

Silent Cam does a 640 x 480 screen shot through the camera app silently. That's about the best I have found. Appworld.
