Or should we not and try to pretend this sucker was never made? Thought it was nasty-ugly at first but I must admit it is kind of growing on me...

It's just a repackaged 9900 right? And at $2,000 I think a pinned topic might be able to hold all the people that buy one.

Not gonna lie, I really like the design of the phone. Very futuristic!

But, don't you need to buy/own a Porsche first to even be able to get one (regardless of price)?

I don't think there needs to be a separate section for the say....3 crackberry addicts who drop $2,000 on a fugly blackberry. In any case it's still a 99xx series phone.

I, Like the OP, originally thought it was pretty ridiculous in terms of design and concept. But seeing the hands on video has really changed my mind - I'm tempted now. Unfortunately I've loaded up on 9900 accessories (mainly a couple of strategically placed charging pods throughout rhe house / office ) and don't think they'll all work with the P'9981.

Again, its 'restricted' ... doesn't that mean you can only purhcase it if you have a Porsche or are buying a new Porsche. I don't think you can just go out and buy the phone for 2k... its 2k with your new car. I guess if you really really like it, but don't have or want a Porsche you can pay quite a bit MORE than $2000 and get it...

i don't think that's what it means. I think that means it'll be "restricted" in terms of where you can buy it. It'll be available at Porsche dealerships where they sell all the other Porsche branded merchandise, and probably a few other select boutique stores that sell that kind of stuff (i'm not sure whether porsche, like ferrari, has their own stores outside of the dealerships). You won't be able to just pop into Best-Buy and pick one of these up - that's my understanding of the 'restriction' term. Porsche merchandise is usually available to anybody who wants to go pay for it, regardless whether you have the car or not.

what i'm wondering is if it maintains NFC support even with a different back?

NFC doesn't have to do with the back of the device, it's about the sensors on the back. I'm sure this device will have it.

The two sensors on the 9900 make contact with wiring on the factory back-cover. There's been no mention yet that it would be supported through the leather cover of the 9981.

    Absolutely. NOT
1)people here can't. Afford it at $2000 people. Have better things to use the money for
2)they people that would buy the phone are rich and can't come on this forum no time. To do so

If you give it enough time, there will be 9981's on ebay for a fraction of the original cost. The # of users could go up.

2 things, the company porsche that makes cars I believe had no hand in this. I believe it is a company that puts a spin on tech devices.
Another is yes it does support nfc

I don't see why they can't integrate in here with us poor poeple lol
Its 'porsche design' that had a hand in the phone aswell, not porsche car manufacturing.
Porsche design is a completely different division and has its hand in loads of widespread, different technology's.
