Ok so my upgrade is up, I have the 9800, which i don't hate, I really don't have any complaints besides the speed of the browser, but I wanted to upgrade to the 9900 because the Bold 9000 was the best phone I'd ever owned. But it'll cost me 200 bucks and lock me into a 2 year contact. Is it worth the upgrade? What are the differences between 6.0 and 7.0 operating systems? should I just wait for BBX phones?

Personally I'd wait for the BBX phones, the 9900 is a great phone, just not worth being locked too a 2yr contract a long with an extra 200 dollars

Rim is saying late 2012 for the BBX phones. Personally I would go for the 9900, I love it. Best blackberry I have owned.

We don't know when a BB10 phone with a keyboard will be coming, so I don't know if I'd recommend waiting for that.

OS7 is a marked improvement over OS6 in just about every aspect. I had a 9800 and upgraded to the 9810 (because I was impatient and the 9900 wasn't out yet). It was a great upgrade, as the phone is very quick and smooth and the browser is a huge improvement over the 9800's. Then I made the mistake of going to the phone store to try the 9900. Long story short, the 9810 is now sitting in its box as I send this on my 9900. I paid full price for it, and I don't care. There's still over a year on the contract I got the 9810 under, and I don't care about that either. I think the 9900 is worth grabbing now. We just don't know when a QWERTY BB10 phone will be out and all the kinks worked out of it.

personally, i would wait. even though it is the best phone i have had so far, supposedly there will be a BBX phone that will look similar to the 9900. so wait! the 2 year contract is not worth it. however you can sell you 9800 and pay remaining money to get yourself a 9900. that would be a better idea then locking yourself to a 2 year contract.

My 9900 is so much faster than my 9800. The 9900 was delayed for a while so I guess the BBX will be too, also touch screen only.

Like someone said - Get the 9900 now on a 12 contract then the BBX when it arrives.

    Prolly 2013 knowing RIM

If you choose a 9900 I can almost guarantee satisfaction. I can't guarantee the same by sitting around for a year and waiting for a "maybe".

I've owned a 8130, 8330, 9630, 9700, 9800, 9780, and now the 9900...and this is by far the best BlackBerry of them all. The UI is basically the same, except now you can disable the annoying panels, and there is HotSpot support. Other than that it's all about the hardware and browser improvements...those alone make this an amazing phone. The browser speed on the 9800 doesn't even compare to the 9900.

I have an ATT 9800 on T-Mo, I was just about set on upgrading to the 9810 because I love the slider style, but after using a 9930 a few times recently, I'm really tempted to get the 9900 instead. I like the extra screen, but with the PlayBook, I find I don't use the phone directly as much and that 99xx keyboard is just so awesome. With the upcoming remote control and keyboard options with PB OS2, I think the 9900 will be the better option. With the 9800 keyboard, I'm up on my finger tips too much.

The 9900 is the the way to go if you have Playbook. I went from 9900 to 9810 and back to the 9900.

I switched from 9800 to 9900 just a couple weeks ago and haven't questioned my purchase once. The UI might as well be identical, though much snappier, but the browser is tons quicker, the keyboard is worlds better, and everything just feels more polished.

Think about future phones in the future. Sell the 9900 if and when you need to.

    IMHO, of course...

Remember about a month after you got your bold 9000, and you realized you could "fly" on that thing? Then came the 9800, and you thought... well, the keyboard is not nearly as nice, but the touch screen makes up for it? My advice to you... get the 9900 & "fly" again.

I just upgraded from the exact same phone (Torch 9800) to the new phone (Bold 9900) and let me tell you that is the best phone that I have ever owned. And yes you definitely will miss the size of the screen and the slide down keyboard, but trust me just the keyboard on the 9900 alone is worth the upgrade and the screen resolution along with how fast the phone is. It's super worth it, though I get an upgrade every year, so ill get the BlackBerry X phones couple months after they release.

There is very less difference between os6 and os7.
9900 is only better in one sense that it has 9000 form factor.
Else it's not worth 2 year lock
You can buy other things for 200$

It all depends on you.. I had a torch 9800 to and I did not hate that phone at all I loved it but yeah the speed on the browser and the touchschreen was not to fast but it was something I got use to.. But now I bough a bold 9900.. Although the touchscreen is not as big as the torch but its still big enough to use to navigate and the speed is much more improved and the keyboard is easier to use then the torch.. I'm satisfied that I switch even tho I'm gonna miss using the torch.. But u don't have to be stuck on a new contract just try to find a good price on the bold then u won't have to be stuck on contract

I have been using the Torch9800 since it was released. Recently switched from ATT to VZN, so had to get a new phone. Settled on the 9930.

Things I still miss after 2 months of using it:
    - autofocus camera
    - larger touch screen

For the rest I'm sure the 9810 is similar - speed, OS, etc.

If VZN starts carrying a 9810 - I'm the first in line.

At the risk of repeating myself, it is all about personal preferences. At this point, there seems to be very little chance that a CDMA version of the 9810 will be released.

Personally i love the Bold 9930. No Questions. I had a slide out keyboard android, and i had the slide out blackberry (which one was that?) but still, hands down, my favorite is the Bold 9930. I have an iPod Touch, which is great for music and such, but after using all the environments, (even had a windows phone to test for a little bit) hands down my favorite form factor and the best for me is the Bold 9930.

P.S. Yes it is the best keyboard i have ever used. Even better than the 9000, and i was blown away by that one...

Honestly, if I were you and I already had a playbook I would wait to see how you device paired with the new 0S2 update...if youre not missing much pairing your device with it I'd wait. You only have about 8 months to wait and you will get the full discount on your shiny new bb10 phone.
