Hi, can someone tell me how I could stop my screen fading to black when I make calls? Sometimes I like to use the speakerphone option but because the screen fades as soon as I begin to dial, I can't set it like that

The screen fadiing to black is due to the proximity sensor on the front of the phone. Try hovering your finger over the sensor while in a call and you should see the screen go off and on.

If you use a case the proximity sensor could be coverd up by that. this could cause your problem.

I have same problem and No key presses wakes up the sceen. Activity over or around proximity sensor also does no good. It is an annoying problem, even the service center has no clue on the issue. They wiped clean OS and reinstalled but to no avail. They have no solution for the issue at all.

Service center in India (Delhi) tells me they have had same problem reported by few more BB 9900 customers.

the $ key (to the left of 'enter') toggles speakerphone on/off while in call.

I'm having same problem. I don't remember this being an issue when I first received the phone--seemed to work properly with the proximity sensor. I have since reloaded te operating system and suspect this may have something to do with it. Not sure though. I'd like to get it fixed. That would be nice.

@I've found a temporary solution, just turn on the speakerphone by pressing the speakerphone button(to the right of the "enter" button.)

Can all of you guys who are having this issue please post the information on the OS version currently running on your phone? I have a feeling that this may be a bug in the OS not the sensor itself.

I noted some have .261 same one as mine and I don't have the issue.... hum... but still, it would be great if we can log all the OS versions and see if there is a pattern just for fun.

    Thanks.

I have a 9900 running 7.1.0.74 and I notice this as well but whenever I move the phone away from my ear it comes on and when I put back to my ear it goes black. Never really thought much about it until I read this thread. All functions work while on a call.
