    Hello!

I have never had a blackberry before, and may get this one if it releases soon.

But, can anyone tell me, what do you reckon this device will cost? Will it most likely be the same price on contract as the current 9780 which will get cheaper?

I just hope that it will be the same price. I think the spec upgrade is much needed.

Its going to be just like every other blackberry.

    $199 w/ 2 year agreement
    $499 without contact

This is strictly for US pricing.

Blackberry prices never come down. Only the retailers will offer incentives to choose them over their competiton. But this won't be happening for a while (probably until thanksgiving)

Let me bounce this off you guys, but it has been something I have been reading and pondering about...

As a result of what happened in Japan production of electronic components are going to run short. Just google it and I'm sure some articles will pop up.

The general conclusion is smartphones prices are supposed to go up as a result as a result of a shortage in components..

So will result in higher prices in the new line of blackberries?

It's possible, but RIM probably already has all the parts they'll need for building these. It's RIM, they stock up hardcore (which is why some devices have pretty crappy hardware for the time they're released).

TRUE! im sure they have HOARDS and HOARDS of these chips sitting somewhere. you think the crazy cat lady down your street with newspapers from the 1920s is bad, you should see how is rim hoarding all these chips up.

I was worried about supply shortages and not price increases. Already worried about the high price of a new touch bold or storm, but I will gladly pay 200 or less with a new 2 yr. contract if the phone feels right.

If this phone turns out to be around $499 I'm in! The other factor is the release date so next week will hopefully shed some light on some details!

    tsecor,

This one would be full price for me. The concern is that AT&T still has the 9000s listed for $699. That does not make me too hopeful for new devices so we'll see.

199 on a 2 year contract and 499 for off contract is my guess.

Probably the typical $199 with two year contract.

I would guess, like others have, that it will be $199 with contract and $499 without. I honestly could care less though. I am buying this thing either way. I have been waiting for this blackberry since I became a blackberry fan a long time ago.

I am guessing $599.00 no contract. All of the other major players non 4G phones are about $599.00 off contract.

i think it depends what the carrier is it goes to. i'm gonna guess 200$ contract and 500 without contract. Maybe 600$ tops. either way it's all mine!

in the uk id say 149-200 on a 35 18 month contract

or free on a 40+ 2 year deal.

I know the torch was 89 on a 35 18month contract when it came out so im loosley basing it on that.

sim free i doubt it would be anymore than 499

I think it will be the same price as the current torch contracts. Don't forget that these blackberrys are filling the spaces of the old ones. RIM can't go and make them all really expensive considering the current prices, and competition. They would potentially lose sales. I would like to say that the bold will replace the bold (price) the torch 2 in the place of the torch. But that probably won't happen. I say that though considering the specs of phones that are competing. They are similar specs and so can't go raising the price too much.

I think the old bolds were over priced. The specs really weren't great compared to other phones on the Market, and they were costing the same!
