    Sprint's BlackBerry Bold 9930 priced at $249.99, Torch 9850 will run $149.99

Do they really think Im going to pay 250 for the bold when I could get an iphone for 199.99? This plus the camera fiasco just shows how incompetent RIM really is. GG.

They will expect you to pay every penny and i am sure you will. Why don't you wait for Best Buy, Sams Club, Radio Shack, Wal-Mart, or Amazon to carry it for cheaper. Then you can buy and go back to your little happy life? I would pay $199 for it when ATT gets it in Sept... Oct... Nov? If you don't want to cut back on drugs, alcohol, or porno for a month then go buy a free slider phone. Case solved!

That make sense if RIM actually was the one setting the price and not the carriers.

RIM doesn't set the price - the carrier does. Go moan at Sprint or wait until the price drops. Or get a different phone.

This just in, RIM sets carrier subsidization prices.... oh wait, they don't... So yeah, in reality you are bashing your carrier, not the manufacturer.

I agree with you though, Sprint is incompetent.

Love people that come here posting garbage and don't even know how the system works LOL! Best part of my day haha. But yea, RIM does not set the prices, carriers doo and if you want to buy an old iPhone 4 compared to shiney new BBOS7 device then go for it. Choose a phone that works for you!

I think it is the carriers pricing them, but I agree. For Sprint, the Conquer is only $99, and it is a WiMax device. Samsung Conquer, BlackBerry Bold 9930, and BlackBerry Torch 9850 Arriving August 21st Sprintfeed

Why would a customer pay $249 for a slower device?

BlackBerry will not sell unless new devices are priced competively compared to Android and iPhone.

But the new BlackBerry devices won't sell if they are still that expensive once iPhone5 is out.

Sprint has a heavy amount of business users. I think this will sell well. Thinking about adding a line and picking one up.

"Why would a customer pay $249 for a slower device?"

Ohh yeah.. because the 1GHz processor in that is much faster than the 1.2GHz processor in the Bold 9900.. Errrr wait...

"BlackBerry will not sell unless new devices are priced competively compared to Android and iPhone."

Yeah.. They sure wont sell yet pretty much everyone on this forum is buying this phone, including me. ****, Kevin bought 4 of them probably for $500 each... It's not ALWAYS about price, although it is a factor. With everything you get with this phone, I am completely happy with paying between $199 and $250.. I don't see why people should complain about the price.. If you don't like it then go buy a cheaper phone, although you do get what you pay for so have fun.

    1) Not all carriers price the same.
    2) Yes they will, they don't target all of the same customers.
    3) Iphone always has "special" subsidization, welcome to several years ago.
    4) Sprint is the #3 carrier in the US, if you want to count the other two much, much larger ones, combined...
    5) None of your response has anything to do with why you'd have to be dumb to pay $199 for a iphone4 right now anyhow. It has nothing to do with BB devices whatsoever...

    The Sprint dev
ice in the link I provided uses their WiMax network, which is faster than their CDMA network, no matter the processor speed of the CDMA device.

There is no point mentioning iPhone4. An accurate price comparison will be the latest BlackBerrys vs.the iPhone5 when it is released shortly.

A lot of AT&T/VZW customers are waiting for the iPhone5.

I would never get an iPhone. It is not one of the devices I am considering in the future. However, carriers are foolish if they think the average consumer will pay as much or more for the latest BlackBerry as they will for the latest iPhone.

I hate how people say this.. BlackBerry and iPhone5 appeal to COMPLETELY different customers (as mentioned in a previous post)

One thing that breaks the deal for me and many others is the QWERTY Keyboard. I mean it just drives me NUTS that its always "omg iPhone is better than BlackBerry blah blah blah blah blah" because have you ever thought that maybe someone just doesn't want an all touchscreen phone?

I'v had an entire touchscreen phone for 2 years and to be honest, I am NEVER going back to an all touchscreen phone after using the BlackBerry keyboard.. It's just too convenient.. I can type like 60-70 WPM on my BlackBerry and I'v never been anywhere close to that on my all touchscreen phone. Will you guys just open your eyes a bit and realize that its not always just about what the phone can do, sometimes its about the usability and not everyone wants just a full touchscreen phone...
