I saw that Verizon stated that Push to Talk will be coming in a software upgrade in the future. I am not sure what push to talk is. Is this a significant issue or benefit?

Push to Talk (PTT) enables your device to communicate almost like a two way radio.

Orange UK have PTT enabled on a few phones, but its a charge to use.
Dolphin, a business comms network that used Tetra also used PTT but has long since gone bust.
Steve
push to talk comes installed on the vzw 9930, also cant delete it.
Sorry but isn't sending a voice note in BBM then getting a voice note back from he other person similar to the concep of PTT and is free?
No, PTT (Push to talk or Push to transmit) is done in real time.
If you want free push to talk go to loudtalks.com...already available :)
I tried loudtalks and it was a bit slower than PTT from Verizon, but Verizon's PTT is better in my part of the country, we go to smaller towns and Verizon's PTT works flawlesly with the EVDO rev A, loudtalk needs 3g coverage to work.
By the way when is the PTT gonna be available for the 9930? or where can we download it from?
PTT is my biggest pet peeve! I think it is the most selfish think to do in public. If it is needed in business setting, that will pass, but not in public. When I see somebody using it in public, I give them the 'LOOK'.
Any news on the ptt update out there yet?
