But next to it (marked with a RED arrow) why do I also see a 3G symbol ?

That's not a 3G signal!! That means you are subscribed to BIS! It's a BlackBerry signal.......where does it show anywhere that it's 3G?

The 4 dots are your BIS service. Moves to next to the WiFi icon when BIS is using wireless rather than network.

    3G symbol is, well, 3G !!!

I'm having a problem uploading the pic

but - yeah I am talking abt the 4 dots. When I dont use WiFi, my screen reads EDGE

but with network & wifi, I get EDGE and on the line below, (wifi symbol & 4-Dots)

The BIS icon does not appear when signal is 2G i.e. edge although you will still get internet and e.mails etc.

If you switch to 3G with no WiFi you will see 3G instead of edge and the 4 dots next to the 3G

Turn on WiFi the dots will move to next to the WiFi icon.

When wifi is on... the symbol appears because you are getting BIS data over wifi and not your carrier network.

    Wifi off:

    Wifi on:

This is normal... don't worry about it.

The 3G stills shows with wifi on because, well, you are still connected to your carriers network.
