can anybody confirm if the frets on the 9900 are plastic or metal? i love my 9700 but all four frets are cracked on the left side.

you can get a replacement keypad for your 9700 for like $10.

Yes I realize that I can get a replacement keypad but it seems like the frets tend to crack easily for a lot of people and I would say that it is a design flaw or at least a poor choice of material. I had one crack within a few months of usage and thought it was hardly an issue for a warranty exchange.
I am surprised that the 9900 has the same plastic as I thought that RIM would opt for premium materials on their flagship device.
