I love my 9930 and have to give the iPhone 4S some credit where due.
I went to Lowers earlier and tried to take a picture with my 9930. Wasn't working. Took 10 pictures using closeup mode at all different distances. Couldn't read any. Then I borrowed my sons iPhone 4S and take a look. WOW.
I just got back from my gf's daughters house. Everyone but me had an iphone and I was the only one able to take awesome pics of the new grand daughter without getting redeye! Yeah I know there's an app for that. But before anyone could fix the redeye with their app I had sent all of them the pic showing her beautiful blue eyes untouched and natural. And everyone witnessed the fact, they all said, "wow, how did you do that"?
My bold or any phone I have owned is not worthy of a camera. I use a regular digital camera so I know when I take a shot I know I have a good photo. I take close ups all day long and when I email the photos they are much nicer than any photo from a cell phone.
What a cutie - & look at those beautiful blue eyes! Grandkids are the best!!
Thanks Chrysalis, yeah great untouched "Blue Eyes". My gf and her daughters were pissed when all of them got redeye. I think the difference was "not" having auto focus. See there are times when that is not desirable. Hahaha!
EDOF can't focus on details up close. That's just a flaw in its design. Not much you can do to correct it. The iPhone will always be better in that sense.
It's betting RIM won't make this mistake again on their next round of phones.
The 9900 can make some awesome photos if you take some time and hold the phone steady.
And I love how it just snap at the moment you click, it's just those stupid close ups... Oh well, it doesn't matter that much, phone is still amazing.
Other than not being able to do close up shots, I'm fine with the camera on the 9930. For 90% of my photo taking, it's been serving me well. (Although I have a time or 3 pulled out my Style 9670 for a close up and Bluetoothed it to my bold) :P
