Sorry for the n00b question but I have seen that RIM already released its 7.1 OS, but why I still can't update my bold 9900 using the desktop software?

It depends which carrier are you with and country as well if am not wrong :)
As far as I know, there's no official 7.1 for 9900 yet. Only for 9930. 9900 has leaked 7.1.0.205 though. RIM may have officially release it, but still have to wait till carriers to push it out.
Yes 7.1 is officially released for the 9930 and Torch 9850.
RIM should have said it's "already rolling out" instead of simply "released."
But even when it's officially released by a GSM/HSPA carrier, it might not be your carrier anyway.
Check out the leaked 7.1.0.205 thread in the Leaked OS Forum. Give it a try if you're restless waiting; you can always roll back if it's no good.
The leaked 205 is what T-Mo is using as their consumer beta. It is very stable, no memory leak, and really strong signal reception (I'm getting 49% 5 bars and 47% 4 bars in the Raleigh-Durham NC area). I have the T-Mo beta but believe it would be the same as the leaked 205.
