Yuppppiiiiiie!! Just got my 9900 from Jacky's Electronics, first shop to get the stocks from Etisalat!!
The phone is locked to Etisalat but there is no carrier logo! So you don't have to worry about removing the logo!
I unlocked it within 60 seconds thanks to FreeThisBerry :)
It came preloaded with OS 7.0.0.296 and it says it is made in Hungary 2 from the outside of the box, but inside the phone where you put the battery, it says Made in Hungary 3
Is it normal that the top part of the keyboard is a bit elevated? not flushed with the trackpad, menu button, and back button?
The unit is perfect I am just making sure this is normal, The display unit they had also had this little elevated edge of the keypad from the top row. Can someone please confirm
quick question guys, does the screen come with a protected film from the factory or is there nothing there protecting it??? thanks!
It comes with a protected film from the factory
I will keep it on until they start selling proper screen protectors for the 9900
Got mine this morning. VERY impressed, it's my first BlackBerry and it's so much better than I was expecting.
You guys are KILLING ME! Absolutely KILLING me! We're moving in September so I made the decision that to get this phone now would distract from purging, packing and then unpacking at the new place, getting the kids ready for school, etc. We're talking late September, early October, and having to use my Best Buy rewards for a year's supply of paper and printer ink instead of my 9930!
Can somebody just lie to me and tell me I'm not missing anything?
Mine has been delivered from Vodafone UK :D
Finishing work in 40 minutes, cannot wait to try it out
It sucks. It's so bad I've broken out the 3310 to use instead. Shocking.
:p
All the videos that made me drool, are nothing compared to this phone. It seriously feels like too good to be true, too fast, smooth, typing is just like typing on a PC. I keep falling in love with it every second I use it. It was well worth my 2 month wait of agony and calling shops everyday asking about its arrival :)
Now the full CrackBerry site launches in 2- 3 seconds on 3G!! Imagine how would it be on WiFi! I am very pleased! Now browsing is actually nice with a big screen!
Is it worth getting the 9930 for full price of $509?
Finally! Thanks to GSMNation!!!!! I finally have in my hand the finest blackberry ever created!!
I was awaiting shipping confirmation, order status, etc. I kept refreshing the webpage/email... and then suddenly this morning the Fedex guy came to my office and dropped this off. EARLY CHRISTMAS INDEED
Initial thoughts:
I'm running this on ATT. So far the NFC is enabled. Display is very crisp, and UI is absolutely smooth (i assume this is the liquid graphics, lol). I'm installing/updating 9+ apps at once and it doesnt seem to be having much problems.
Got mine today and already loving it! Worth the cost of an early upgrade!
Got mine on Wednesday, ordered on Monday, was going to go 2 years but after seeing the price Telus was charging I took 1 for the team and did 3 year renewal.
Thoughts so far
1) Only 1 convenience key? Are you fuuuuckin serious...
2) Mute has a button? Logic says that if u press lower volume enough times it will go to mute
3) Wish you could decide what the panels are ie instead of favs or downloads it would just open a folder or w/e but that makes home screen redundant I guess ah wells personal thing I guess
4) Screen is clearer and better
5) Faster browser almost up to par with the other smartphone competitors
6) Battery is ok I know ppl have issues here.
7) I do have a squeaky trackpad if I press the bottom right corner of the trackpad anywhere else its fine...LOL
9) HD video is clutch
Overall it is the best BB to date. It didn't blow me away, it was just another solid BB more evolutionary than revolutionary.
Not bad for a phone that was rumoured and was supposed to release in 2009.
(Sarcasm there)
They added the swiping feater in os6
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com
Ordered mine online for the special price of $199....have had it three days now. I absolutely LOVE this phone - pictures aren't too stinkin' bad after all the bad press I've read. I can always use my Kodak mini camcorder if I want better pictures.
Anyway, I was up until 3AM the day I got it, playing and updating and downloading and backing up, etc. I am amazed at my battery life. WAY better than my Storm 2. At present, after taking it off the charger at 8AM, I'm at 85%. WiFi is OFF, GPS is ON. I typically BBM a lot and keep my FB app closed while at work, so you be the judge if that's par for the course or not. I'm definitely not a heavy user.
And, after having a Storm2, this touch/trackpad/keyboard maneuverability is going to take some getting used to: I find myself pressing the screen like it's gonna "click" at me.....LOL but it's a beautiful thing. I love the keyboard, liquid graphics are awesome....wow, what a phone.
I am so glad I got this instead of the iPhone, because that's what it was coming down to once I read about the picture quality.....but in the end, I couldn't give up my LED light and BeBuzz. LOL
Love this phone! It's slick!
Love the phone. Having major problems with the BlackBerry ID thing though
I ordered it and I should get it by tomorrow afternoon.
Had it for 2 days now and so far I love it. There isnt much of a difference (to me) from OS6 to OS7, but that its noticeably faster. I love the response of the touchscreen and roomier keyboard.
I do have one complaint, that I cant use my side volume buttons on the home screen to change ringer volume. Yes, Im aware that the sound menu is on the home screen, but it was nice to just click a couple times really quick while heading into meetings..
Blackberry ID was a pain in the ****! I ended up just making a profile on my computer, then I got some error code.... but when I logged in on my phone, it worked! So try that, hope it helps!
Got mine, and got my girl one too! She freaked when she saw it.
Got it - 9930. Sweet! Great screen and keyboard and so thin. So much faster than my 9650.
Not too pleased that so many ringtones and alerts are missing. The default ringtones are totally inadequate.
Mine just arrived a hour ago. Upgrading the OS now, then device switch with BB Desktop. See how that works.

Never had a 9xxx Bold before. Just the Tour and then 9650. It's obviously faster than my 9650. The over all size and form factor is great so far.
How long do you wait before peeling off the protective plastic on the device?
I ordered my Bold 9930 on Monday, as soon as Verizon showed it on the website. I received it this morning. It's beautiful and I'm very excited, after waiting so long for this new phone to be for sale. However, I have been unable to activate it because apparently when it comes to the Bold Touch, Verizon is not ready for prime time, as they say. After lots of attempts to activate my device, my phone call was directed to Tech Support, where I was told that Verizon's system "won't accept the data yet." My technician said that his colleagues had been on back-to-back calls with customers unable to activate. He was most apologetic and polite and offered a $20 credit on my bill for my trouble. He says it may take 24 hours to activate. Seems like a system screwup and a colossal failure to plan.
Been playing about for a few hours now and I love it.
Sorted the BB ID and e-mail problems.
The keyboard is amazing, the OS is rapid, only thing is, I haven't really noticed too much difference in the browser- Not sure if there's any settings I need to adjust?
