just got mine and I'm in love already!! way faster, lighter, and nice to have the keyboard/touch combo!!
a little wide at first, but after 5 minutes It felt right at home in my hands!! I probably wont sleep tonight since i'll be playing around with the phone!!! yay
Meh it's either that or the obscene $600+ prices from other carriers, or the near insane $800+ prices from ebay and other private sources.
With the pricing here in the states (like 250+ after rebates) with contract, the $510 price from Verizon isn't that terrible if you can't stand the BB you have now, and changing to any other company is just unbearable because their phones just aren't for you.
Got the 9930 today. Wow that baby is dead sexy.
Feels great in the hand. Thin. Love the screen. Fast. Awesome keyboard. Finally lets me get over to V from ATT and still have global coverage.
I just ordered a 9930 thru Verizon to upgrade my Bold 9650 at full retail. Can't wait to get it!
Love my new phone:
launched in india on 11th and I ordered mine on 13th. everything is so great. love it except the battery
I paid $USD 707 full retail price for my 9900, they gave me a free BlackBerry Bluetooth Headset (HS-300) and a car charger.
Aside from that, this phone is worth every darn penny!!
Many people I know have iPhones, and my wife has an HTC Incredible. Yesterday I got the 9930, and I have to say that it blows them all out of the water. This device is very well thought-out and well put-together - it retains all of the functionality that is Blackberry's raison d'etre, while adding some modern features with the touchscreen, graphics, processor, etc. From what I can tell so far, this phone has everything I want and nothing I don't.
That being said, I will label myself "cautiously optimistic" for the time being. For me (perhaps for many others as well), the BB is a workhorse, not a toy. I don't really care if it can run every app that an iPhone can, because the vast majority of those apps are just time-wasting diversions that eat up CPU cycles. My BB time is spent 85% writing/reading emails and attachments, 10% web browsing, and 5% checking the market or the weather. So, for me, anything without a physical (non-touchscreen) keyboard is a toy and impractical for those who have to read/respond to 100+ emails a day. I kept my previous BB (Tour) streamlined and it was quite fast and reliable (until the trackball started breaking a couple months ago). I hope that the 9930's trackpad is more reliable over time.
In any case, I am happy with everything I see on the 9930 so far. It seems that the fundamental emailing properties are still quick and are not suffering from bloat (i.e., it doesn't take 6 button presses to send an email). That is something BB must never change. The browser is (not surprisingly) much better than what I had on the Tour. If this phone can stand up to heavy usage without starting to lag or mechanically malfunction, I will move from "cautiously optimistic" to "a huge fan". I'd say I'm about halfway there.

Tmo is set to release the 9900 to non-business customers on 8/31(business customers were able to order it as of 8/17). I'm curious to know if any U.S. cell phone users have been able to get this phone ordered. I know with Tmo it takes calling around until you get a rep at a location that has access to send the phone. If you have, let me know. I've gotta have this phone and I can't wait until 8/31.
Just came back to BlackBerry after a two year hiatus testing the waters with Android and iPhone. All I can say is that it's great to be back with a phone that fits me. That keyboard is fantastic and the touchscreen is icing on the cake.
Aghghhhh~ Ordered mine today.
Anyone else having the 'ohmygodnewphonegimmegimmegimmegimmeGIMME!' feeling too? Had to wait till this morning to order off verizon(50$ additional discount for waiting, YEAH), throw the extra 12$ for overnight, so excited!
I should be getting mine this afternoon, can't wait.
I ordered it yesterday and it was delivered today. I'm going to pick it up in a few hours since I missed the driver
I got my 9900 just the other day.. I hesitated before hand thinking if I'd like it more than my iPhone or not.. but after using it for a few days I'd the 9900 kicked the iPhone right out of the water.
I love the keyboard on the phone, love the display, and the touch screen just makes things even better.
Only thing I'm not to fawn on is the battery, but ****, the phone is still great!
I ordered on Monday, received it Thursday morning, had no time to activate it till 8:00 pm. What do you think could happen? I plugged it in to DTM, restored from a backup and then it wanted to update the software?? I was confused. So I waited for an hour. When I THOUGHT it was done (no confirmation screen), I unplugged it and all seemed to look good for a couple minutes and then BAM! Error 507.... I had recently taught myself through the C.B. tutorials :) about wipe and reload except Verizon had no OS yet for downloading from their site. We ended up calling and walking through the fix with a Blackberry Tech person. Thank goodness it all seems fine now this morning. What a horrible experience for my first day with my new Bold. I am LOL-ing right now. I always have to learn things the hard way.
Got mine this past week unlocked from eBay, love it and still amazed. This is definitely the phone BB users have been waiting for.
I'm expecting my 9930 to arrive anytime now...had to arrange for Fedex to deliver it to me at the office, since it has to be signed for. I'm switching from a Tour 9630, which was my first ever Blackberry...had it since Oct '09 and I have loved every minute of it! I hope the 9930 is great as well! *excited*
Couldn't wait till this afternoon so I ran to airport and picked it up from the FedEx distribution center this morning. I can't believe how awesome it feels in the hand. Definitely a change from my 9650 with the Seidio extendeded battery.
It seems like the top part of my track pad sticks up further than it should. When I swipe down my finger catches. Doesn't happen side to side or from the bottom. Might have to get a new one sent.
It came today!
met the Fed-Ex lady half way up the walk, she looked scared as i came rushing up the walk..lol
Got it all activated and so far except for a few of my long time must have apps (QuickPull) not being available yet i am HAPPY! this is the BB i have been waiting for..
I'm one step closer to my 9930 for Sprint. I ordered it on Tuesday and I get a tease call today from Sprint saying I need to come in... and pay for my Bold that wont come until tomorrow or maybe, maybe this afternoon. at least I have a receipt from Sprint for a Bold 9930.
Extremely happy with my new Vodafone UK 9900. Ordered it Thursday and it arrived in just over 24hours! I upgraded from my 9520 on a business contract and I got an amazing offer. Free phone 36 a month gets me unlimited texts, mobile and land-line calls, 500mb of internet and 1gb of BT WiFi. Overall super happy with the phone and its a 100x better experience than my old 9520.
got mine! all Telus stores in my area were a bit slow to get them but finally got my hands on one. loving it except the battery needs that settle time yet.
I just found out about the "hold Q key" to change profile to vibrate only. The little useful things like this tha make me love using a Blackberry.
My contract was supposed to end this Month and I was eligible for an upgrade so I decided to pull the trigger instead of waiting for it to come out in-store. Got my 9930 Yesterday and I must say, THIS IS THE GREATEST PHONE RIM HAS RELEASED!
I am having NO issues with battery or ANYTHING although I would like to find a way to delete BBM.
Also, they need to hurry up and start releasing apps for this device as I have 9 apps that are "currently unavailable for this device" according to bb app world.
This phone is HIGHLY recommended!
