True but your post letting everyone know that you're not impressed by the "downloading now" posts is just as useless as the ones you're posting about. Just sayin'

and they've put out two OFFICIAL updates so close to each other. hmmmmm. something better not be up (although i doubt it but you never know).
Device is fast! Loving .590 so far, no bugs to report except slower boot time. I'll charge tonight and report on the battery meter tomorrow and battery life tomorrow.
Well the platform has changed from 734 to 739 so meh, worth a jump I guess.
ah okay, i didn't notice that. i like the smaller multi files, i'll have to pay attention to that more so i get the smaller one downloaded in the future. thanks.
Anyone can let us know if the problem with the drop from 100 to 92 is still there pls guys..! :)
that doesn't happen for me on this build but it didn't happen on .585 for me either. i don't run the battery monitor app though. i've seen posts that the battery app actually drains the battery, so maybe try deleting that and see if it goes away if you have it installed.
Well...had 503 then 540 with battery monitor app and was fine it started from .585 Well messed up..cant get to the bottom of the problem here.
Installing the new one in few min will report back soon with changes/improvements( if any ;p) etc.
Ok I went from 540 to 590. 590 has the 92% battery thing I think. further it seems pretty good, fast browser newest bbm preinstalled with no awkward effects I had on previous os'es.
Bull**** that a decent OS can't get released for their apparently top phone...
Just got my 9900, immediately updated to this one from the stock OS. I'll update later how it is. BTW, for those who want East Asian Languages input, I took the .cod files from .540 and just put them into the Java folder for this one (.590) and it worked out just fine. Got Chinese input on mine now.
I just posted this on another thread, but my 9810 on .585 with MeterBerry did the 99+ to 92 thing too. Before .585, it read normally, so it's not just a 9900 issue. My 9900 without MeterBerry on 7.1.0.74 is counting down normally. Odd.
7.1.0.74 is an ancient build.
I don't think it has anything to do with MeterBerry, but something RIM has done with the new radio files. This also happens on 7.1.0.163 for the 9930. Maybe something to do with the mystical 'brick' fix that was promised...
It a lot more snappier and smoother than the 585
I think I'm quite satisfied with the current .585/.503 hybrid I will stick with it probably until an official 7.1. Should be near since the 9930's got theirs! Maybe in time for Christmas!
rebooting takes a while. i updated twitter and bb bridge, he rebooting takes forever.
Here's my updated OS install guide if anyone needs a refresher...
ELITE1's OS UPGRADE GUIDE
- (Optional) Uninstall any previous OS from PC.
- Download OS to PC. Use Internet Explorer, not Firefox or Chrome. (For leaked versions, browser is irrelevant.)
*If 100% certain you've previously used FF or Chrome on same PC to DL an OS successfully, feel free to use FF or Chrome again.- Following successful DL, run OS file to install OS on PC.
- On BB, go to BBM Options, scroll down to Backup section. Ensure Remote Backup is enabled AND also conduct a Local Backup to media card.
- Go through any 3rd party apps with option to save settings to media card. Conduct Backup to media card within each of these apps. (Examples: Bellshare apps like BerryBuzz & BerryWeather; QuickLaunch; Shao's apps like Wallpaper Changer & SixTools; etc).
- Connect BB to PC. Open DM and backup device. Close DM.
- (Optional) Use desktop app like BBSAK or BBMCP to backup 3rd party apps.
- On PC, delete Vendor file located here:
64-bit: Computer/C:/Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Research In Motion/AppLoader
32-bit: Computer/C:/Program Files/Common Files/Research In Motion/AppLoader- (Optional/Recommended) Run BB Boss v2.2 or BBH Tool (formerly Shrink-A-OS).
- In same AppLoader file where you deleted Vendor, double-click Loader to load OS to BB. Follow onscreen instructions.
- After loading OS, perform several physical battery pulls over first 1-2 days for OS to "settle in." Perform first batt pull very soon after OS is loaded.
TROUBLESHOOTING
How to Fix OS not Appearing as Available
There are 2 common reasons:
A. HIDDEN VENDOR FILE
Consider trying this new desktop app to remove Vendor from several common locations:
Vendor XML Remover V1.0
If manually deleting Vendor, always hold down SHIFT and press DELETE to permanently delete.
Check here first:
64-bit: Computer\C:\Users\{USER NAME}\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
32-bit: Computer\C:\Documents and Settings\{USER NAME}\Application Data\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
If Loader still doesn't make new OS available, search PC for "Vendor".
If Vendor isn't found anywhere, see below to delete contents of AppLoader folder. (Folder where you found Loader & Vendor.)
B. APPLOADER FOLDER ITEMS
- Uninstall the OS: Control Panel\Programs and Features, highlight this BlackBerry Device Software, click Uninstall at top.
- Delete AppLoader folder contents: Highlight any item, CTRL+A to select all, SHIFT+DELETE to permanently delete.
64-bit: Computer/C:/Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Research In Motion/AppLoader
32-bit: Computer/C:/Program Files/Common Files/Research In Motion/AppLoader- Restart PC.
- Re-install OS on PC: Go to your browser's downloads section, double-click OS to start InstallShield Wizard.
- Delete Vendor: Return to AppLoader folder, highlight Vendor, SHIFT+DELETE.
- Load OS to BB: Attach BB to PC, double-click Loader (in AppLoader folder, where you deleted Vendor).
PS I've posted this before in other threads, but there always seems to be some people that appreciate a step-by-step each time. Not trying to spam...
OS 7.0.0.590 escreen
Attachment 99165
So far doing good! :) Much snappier than any build for 9900.
Installing now
Good build so far, dunno who said it rebooted slower than previous builds because for me so far its been rebooting extremely quickly... around 1 min !
Also got around 10mb additional free memory with all the same apps installed
So far i have reported it to be snappier and faster, now i am getting an average discharge rate of 2.4 %. Hope this helps you guys.
The GPS seems to respond a lot faster, a lot.
I don't know how so many people claim 1-minute reboots. Virtually every OS I've ever had on virtually any BB I've had (except that horrible Tour) has has a 3-minute (approx) reboot.
Probably has to do with certain apps onboard. I haz lots o' apps...
You'll watch much of that 10MB dissipate over the next few days as your BB refills directories not restored, additional resources are DLed by certain apps, etc.
But I know it's exciting to see some of that oh-so-precious memory resurrected, even if only for a short while.
Very weird... after I downloaded (from the "official" link, not a mirror) MS IE's downloads folder indicated "This program was reported as unsafe". Yet, it shows the download was from downloads.blackberry.com. My antivirus program, Avast, didn't report any issues. There was an earlier post in the thread indicating that this carrier doesn't even support the 9900. I'm wondering if it truly was from a RIM website or one which appeared to be RIM.
Regardless, I'm happy with the King Resurection 7.0/7.1 hybrid. Performance with that rocks so I'm definitely on the sidelines on this one unless the pending reports are phenomenal.
