    Greetings Fellow Crackberrians xD

I was recently looking to purchase a new BlackBerry Bold 9900 off eBay, and i came across a listing which was pretty reasonable and cheap.

what do they mean by no OS installed. Im familiar with upgrading Os's on regular BBs. Just never Installed a fresh Os on a BB that never had one in the first place.

    Viewpoints anyone ?

    Thanx in ADvance

It's the same technique that you'd employ when upgrading an OS, however...I'd be suspect as to whether it will actually take an OS. It could be bricked...

You'll find out when you attempt to install the OS. You can try it using loader, or just using the DM.

I'm also wanting to know if it's possible, as I purchased something similar from a friend.

$349 for a "parts" phone??? You can try loading a OS using Desktop Manager or you can check out the link in my signature. Good luck.

I suspect that the seller would have installed the OS if possible. The unit is for sale "For Parts." This seems like a risk and not worth the time/money...

He has a few so its hard to tell if he's actually tried to install an OS in my opinion

The phone does not have any operating system or software loaded, thus can not be used directly. We DO NOT know how to install it or if anyone can install it, which is why we are selling it for PARTS!
Not someone I'd risk giving any of my money to

True. However, if you get it to work, you've managed to get a BB 9900 for a bargain!

Ditto. The buyer will have to decide if it is worth the risk. Personally I would pass.

I actually purchased one of them. I contacted the seller and from what little information I gathered it seemed as if the seller truly was not knowledgable on how to do. The only thing that seemed odd was how he acquired them. How do you acquire 20 brand new unbranded Bold 9900s the seller also wasn't sure what 3G bands the phone had I'm hoping it has the 850mhz 3G band I will repost once I receive it and hopefully it is a bargain.

Good eye I just emailed the seller and hope I can get the difference back. I'm kind of doubting it but hope he does the right thing. I'm just wondering of these are bricked.possibly that's why the seller is listing these as not having an os installed. Tracking says my phone should be here Friday.

Also chanced upon the above link and very curious. If it's bricked, the seller still indicated it's brand new. hmmmmm.
