Many professionals use iPhones on the regular basis, and companies are giving them out instead of blackberries.
It's true, many industries are better suited to the iphone(advertising, graphic design etc) but doesn't change the fact that it's a consumer product adapted for the profession, Blackberry is the other way around. Conpanies don't really give out iphones, they allow you to bring your own and use it with the company's email or other programs.

It looks to me that Wifi is on on the iPhone 4, but it doesn't have any signal. Mine shows up bright blue for the wifi reception bars. Also, what firmware is the iPhone using? Does it have the latest where it's utilizing the Nitro Javascript Engine?

From all tests I've done personally, the iPhone 4 is a little bit quicker than the 9900. But not by much at all. And could very well be just as fast with final firmware. This is a huge step up for current BlackBerry users. Will it be as fast as the new iPhone? Probably not. Who knows? Point is I don't have to have the fastest mobile browser on earth. I just need one of good quality & one that possess fairly good speed. Of which the 9900 has therefore I'm extremely happy with the progress made from OS6.

This is again mirrored in the demise of the windows mobile to windows phone 7which is aimed now at the consumer market ie xbox. BlackBerry are idealy positioned to take this projected gap in the market whereas the iphone may not be as it is also a consumer phone, old winmob users would migrate to phone 7 as all the inferstructure is already in place, if their business was suited to a consumer based phone.

If the iPhone 4S/5 was anywhere near completion, BGR would have "found" one in a bar by now
Well it certainly seems more probable than the 99xx arriving anytime soon or these so-called QNX devices that M & J keep "promising are coming soon". I'd take my bet on the next iPhone arriving, anyday over RIM's long winded but unfulfilled "promises".

I would say the others are suffering from over development, when a "kindle" search reveals nearly 200 results and the official kindle app is not even at the top you start to think there's something wrong.
I dare you to search for "weather" in appmarket.

This isn't seriously your argument, is it?

There is absolutely no problem in being given multiple alternatives. 99% of the time you'll know exactly what app you're looking for, and even when you don't, the most popular and plausible answer for your search is very easy to find.

There would not be any problems if the App Store had three times the amount of apps it has now.

I personally haven't seen a larger company hand out iPhones to the grunts. I'll say this though, where Rim made a huge mistake is in underestimating companies allowing employee's to use there own device.

indeed, the vast majority of fortune 500 companies are allowing if not promoting the use of iphone/android inside of their companies.

If I was a programmer I would be looking hard at writing Apps for Windows and Rim(QNX). Why compete with 4326 Calculators at the Apple App store?

Easily. You have basically two sections. Top Paid & Top Free which consist of the most popular(downloaded) applications all of which are accompanied by a 5 star rating system & reviews for you to browse through as well as screenshots of the application. Pretty simple really. If it's a Top Paid app obviously lots of people are buying it. If there is 4-5 stars, well that's just another indication of its worth. Then you have the reviews and people generally speak their mind. I then look at the screenshots & see if it's visually appealing. Not hard at all. )

The preloaded weather app works fine, if I disliked it I would wait for iOS 5 in which case I would definitely like it. Just to humor your question, however, I would search whatever I think would yield the best results for what I'm looking for first, then I would browse the highest rated one, or see which one would best suit my needs. It's quite simple really; just because there are a lot of offerings from the App Store doesn't mean it's a bad thing; it takes more than a few options on a phone to overwhelm me.

The two companies that are losing the most market share. Mango this, QNX that, I'd put my money where there is more money and go with iOS or even the Android Market.

So you have to base your purchase on other people's opinion? I asked how do you sort trough them, how do you know the one lower down the list doesn't have what you need? How do you know somebody didn't leave them bad reviews on purpose? Really, once it went past 100 weather apps they should've stopped and force the developers to innovate, not keep multiplying the same app.

Tell me, how do you ever search for a website on Google for a particular topic? There's hundreds of millions of results for almost every query. They should have probably stopped indexing sites after the first 100.

No you don't "have" to, nor do I. I base much of it off of what is purchased the most. I don't get your theory behind it all. More options is a good thing. There is no limit to how many weather applications there can be in App World. And I guarantee you RIM wouldn't mind if there were 2000 in AW either.

How do you know someone didn't leave a bad recommendation in App World? You don't. Same as the App Store.

Let's compare the thunderbolts browser to the 9650 lol it's the same concept, you can't compare a new device to an old one (and when you do the old one better lose, and it better not be as close as the one in the video is)

You shoot yourself in the foot a bit here as it's claimed by some that alternatives to BB are best and more desireable because of the quantity of apps available, useing the arguement that app designers want only to design for this or that platform, we keep on being told this in order to validate your choices. However you yourself say that you narrow it down by going for the most popular through use of reviews etc in essense wading through loads of poor apps to find the more quality applications which is of course what we would all do, but then don't validate your argument that this or that is better because of the apps. " A farmer may produce 10 barrels of apples a day but he is not a better farmer if 8 barrels a substandard to one who only produces 2 barrels of good quality"
Even windows phone 7 controls the number and quality of apps using the platform.

If you would limit similar apps to 100 in android and iphone appstores, I wonder how many apps would they have left?

Many apps exist for the iphone because the supposedly superior browser can't cope.
There's an iphone app for UTV | Northern Ireland News, NI Sport News, Northern Ireland Weather forecast - News in NI, UTV Live, Watch TV online u.tv, Ulster Television but BB doesn't need one, the browser works just fine. Try it on an iphone.

The point is why limit anything? You have no answer to this because there would never be a beneficial reason to limit development. Right now you don't have a huge app selection so you claim you don't need it. People said this about mms on iPhone then the day it came out so many used it it crashed the system. People here said they didn't want touchscreens, cameras, media, threaded texting, until they got it. I'm sorry but suggesting that anyone stifle development of apps at this point would be the nail in the coffin for rim. They need apps more than anything single other thing

With all due respect, I don't much blame you. The current 3rd party applications for BlackBerry devices pale in comparison to those of iOS devices. I've deleted many I had on BB too because they're just not that good. The iOS apps are far more intricate, visually appealing and have much more functionality.
I'm not a huge apps person either but as I've used iOS and actually had quality applications to install I've found myself with more and more. There really is a huge difference in the quality of applications. I could go on but it suffices to say I know many BB users that wish they had some of the same apps I use for the BB platform.

If we don't limit development we may all drown in a commercialised soup which has greed at it's core. Maybe there is a bigger picture.
