Got my 9930 two days ago, immediately upgraded to .267. At about 25% battery right now and going to charge for about 7 hours.

I know people say .267 prevents bricking but I'm definitely crossing both fingers to find my new bold perfectly fine when I wake up...

    Wish me luck!

Your phone will be fully charged and ready to take on the day when you wake. The first thing you'll do is check any emails, texts, and/or voicemails that come in overnight.

No OS prevents bricking - but the number of phones bricking is very small compared to the number sold. It should not be of any major concern to you. Enjoy your Bold!

it only needs about 45 minutes to get to a full charge. no need to charge over night at all.

Unless, of course, you want to start the day with a full charge. Since it hurts nothing, why not? Besides, if the phone has some hideous defect that causes it to brick from being on the charger overnight, I'd certainly want to ferret that out soonest.

Yea so I chickened out. Instead I just woke up earlier to charge it for a couple hours... But I will work up the courage to do it soon!

I have had my device since pre launch (well technically both 9930 and 9900) and no issues charging overnight. Yes some devices did brick, but its a relatively small percentage.

You really have nothing to worry about, I charge my Playbook and my 9900 over night, every night, since day one. I also have an insurance plan on my 9900 so even if it does happen I'll go back to my 9700 while my 9900 is fixed.

This was holding me back as well before I bought my 9900 in January but i realized that with the newer OS releases that there were fewer and fewer bricking threads.

One last thing, the only reason people are making such a huge deal about the whole bricking issue is because its a Blackberry. Prior to my 9700 I had an HTC Touch Pro 2, I paid 600 dollars for the unbranded unlocked version and 3 months into using that damn phone is bricked! I was able to fix it but over the course of the 2-3 years I had it, its bricked once or twice a month, not to mention the sleep of death issues I had where if the phone would time out, it would/couldn't be woken up again!

If your honestly worried that much about bricking the phone then just dont do it, but your running .267, I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Do us all a favor and enjoy your 9900

I have always charged overnight, every night since I got the phone last fall; I've never had a problem.

...if it already has a 60% charge, otherwise, a good few hours...but not 45 minutes, not even using a PlayBook charger.

I worried like crazy when I first got my 9930 cuz I'd read the bricking posts in here. Then I realized I was making myself nuts & not enjoying my awesome bb. Just Do It.

I don't blame you for being concerned - I started with the 9860 storm and it bricked on day 13! But I upgraded to the Bold and after 2 months, I'm trouble-free and very pleased. I charge it almost every night, needed or not.

haha, i just charge mine overnight. I reckon that if its going to brick overnight while charging, better to have that earlier so i can get an exchange. And i was still on stock OS 7.0.0.261 then? nothing happened. The phone just charged. No issues at all. I dont think OS makes a difference though. Dont worry about it too much. If it will come, i will eventually. Personally i seldom charge it overnight since i like to charge it before i sleep. But my sister with her 9810 just plug it in everynight before she goes to bed. Its been a few months already, and everything is fine. So ya, save your prayers for something more important.

now to solve the 6%/hour battery drain issue...
