So verizon is selling the bold for $509.99 full retail and $250 with an upgrade, i have an upgrade available but here i thought of something better.

I sell my BB Bold 9650 for $200, then i buy the 9930 for 509.99 which will make the cost only 300 dollarsn instead of 250 with an upgrade, the up side is that even though im paying 50 dollars more, i am not getting stuck in a 2 year contract. What do you think?

I'm with ya on that! The Bold looks great but I can't be stuck with it for two years in a contract. For me, the decision is easier because I have an iPhone that I can get rid of for about $400. Whenever RIM releases QNX, then I'll buy a phone on contract.

Actually correct me if I'm wrong but Sprint full retail for the 9930 is $499 which is $10 cheaper lol. So your better off getting a Sprint 9930 & Unlocking it. However idk how'd you would get it on Verizon.

Problem is where are you going to get $200 for your bold? THey sell for around $100 on ebay.

I'm not sure how much of a hassle it would be to buy one off contract in person, but the option to buy it outright does appear when ordering online.

    I wouldn't say that's worth $10 hahaha.

Going through the hassle of unlocking it plus the fact that you'd have an incorrectly branded phone would not be worth it at all in my opinion.

should have sold it maybe 2 to 3 weeks back in anticipation for the 9930. but im sure some1 will bite

I'm planning to do this as well - lay off my iPhone 4 and used the proceeds to buy the 9900. Only trouble is, the pricing at launch is 499 (approx $800).

I'm really hoping it will slide after the first few weeks, much like the 9780 and Torch.

I don't think you can use Sprint's BlackBerry on Verizon's network even if it's unlocked. You can only do that on GSM carriers

To the OP: Yes, you can do this. I've been doing it for a few years now and it works. The only problem is, well, I don't think you can get $200 for you Bold, they're going pretty cheap on CL, add to that the fact that a ton of people are going to be selling their old BlackBerry phones now that new ones are going on sale. Also, Verizon will probably not sell you one for full price until a few weeks after it's released. Try going to Walmart or Best Buy, they're more likely to sell you one for full price.

I will take the wait and see approach before I would spend $500. 00 for another blackberry, after the storm series I am very hesitant to jump back to blackberry until I know the new devices aren't riddled with issues. Both bb and android devices are launched before they are some what perfected.

There's no way your going to be able to sell it for 200 online (on craiglist or ebay) you could only sell it for that price if you sell it to someone you know who knows nothing about phones

Sounds good though not sure you can get $200 for a 9650 unless it's in mint condition.

I sold an extra tour about 3 weeks ago brand new in the box for 160 so the used one may go for 50 buxs
I have a brand new bold 9650 in the box never used still the factory stickers that I hope to get between 150 and 200 but I will be including a used tour with it so they will get a used tour and a new bold

maybe I can shoot for 250 lol

You never know. I was watching eBay recently (period of 2 months or so) and saw the 9650's gyrate in average price from say a low of $140 to a high of $270 I think. And most of these devices had flaws.
