How do all? I'm a BB noob and trying to find a way a applying multiple birthday alerts to one contact (sister, brother in law, nieces, nephews etc). Is this possible? I'm guessing it must be but not able to source it in the options. Any ideas?

why? people have one birthday.

i have each contact saved as one entry, with one birthday. you could try using google calendar, and make your own birthday list, then import it to the BB calendar.

Fair point, I want to be able to have reminders for my niece and nephew on my sisters contact. They're young'uns so they don't have their own phones.

You could always put in a yearly recurring reminder in your calendar

You could always make a new contact with just the B'day.
The contact having a phone number is NOT mandatory.
