How does the size of the Motorola battery compare with the JM1 ??
Sure that RIM could make a 3300 battery but it's size would have compromised the overall design dimensions of the 9900.
The decision regarding the size of the battery was probably decided early on in the design. You can't really compare it like this. Its like saying RIM makes phones with physical keyboard & Apple can't make one too?
Each company has a different approach to their products.
But I understand where you're coming from completely. I wished I had a higher capacity battery on my 9900 too. Let's just hope that there's really one in the works, even 1500mah I'll be happy. Also let's hope RIM continues to improve their OS to achieve better battery consumption. :)

But the new Motorola Razr smartphone is ultra thin and probably the same as the BB 9900, if not thinner, so i dont understand where you're coming from. Why give the 9700 a more powerful battery than a newer model? Doesnt make sense.
It make sense because RIM stands for research in backwards.
Because the Droid Razr Maxx only has a couple of moving parts - the power button and volume keys. The 9900 has a bunch of moving parts which require more space. And the Maxx is gigantic, so they can naturally fit in a much bigger battery. Have you ever held the Maxx? It's just too big. The 9900 size is perfect for me, so I'm willing to take a smaller battery life. I still get through a full work day anyhow and am in my car quite a bit anyhow. I have a proclip mount with built in charger. I'm never in a situation where I need to go 16 hours without access to a charger. But I could if I had to.....
you must also note about other materials used will be cheap.
and look at form factor of razr.
A coworker of mine got a Razr Maxx and he's happy now because he can go an 8 hour work shift without having to charge his phone. He only got about 4 hours from his older Android phone.
He was bragging about how it's got the longest battery life of any smart phone blah blah blah. So I asked him how long can you go without charging your phone? he was sitting at 20% at the end of our shift with an estimated 3 hours left.
So to me that calculates to almost 9% battery drain per hour. My 9900 is 3 times better than that.
He replies that my Blackberry is not a smartphone? what kind of argument is that?
Some people.
This is so wrong...but made me laugh non the less. Lol
Either can Motorola. The Razr Maxx has one because it's way thicker than a Razr. Take your choice - skinny phone or big battery. You can't have both.
thicker than a RAZR (7.1mm) but still thinner than a Bold. 9900 is 10.5mm thick, the RAZR Maxx is 9mm.
The power problems on the 9900 are not as much a battery problem as they are a hardware and software problem. The phone simply uses more power than phones with comparable specifications. 1230Mah versus 1500Mah isn't much of a difference in comparison to the battery life on a 9900 versus a HTC Radar with a similar capacity battery (though the Radar lasts MUCH longer).
Sorry, not true. The 9930 lasts as long as or longer than my iPhone 4. It lasts as long as or longer than my Droid did. The fact is that smartphone all suck batteries, and people want skinny phones so you can't put bigger batteries in them. If you want long battery, don't buy a smart phone. Or buy one that has an extended battery available for it.
And how thick is the Razr, which is what I was comparing? Thinner than the Maxx. Why is that? Because, as I said, and as was my POINT, Motorola cannot magically make a better battery which was the implication of the op. If you buy a Razr you get a smaller battery. The Maxx is thicker to accommodate the bigger battery, otherwise it's functionally identical to the Razr.
The Bold was made to be as slim as possible and still have that awesome keyboard, which the Razr does not have. That also takes depth. People want skinny phones and don't get the fact that you cannot have a skinny smart phone and good battery life - at least not as good as a feature phone.
Good lord, man. You're carrying more computing power in your hand than was available in the world when I was in high school. You are carrying 5 radios. A lit color display and a lit keyboard. A camera. Microphone and speaker. And you want it thin and to last all week. Cold fusion anyone?
Carry a spare battery or something.
20% increase is battery current potential "isn't much of a difference"?
NO matter,
RIM wants you buy their new BB10 BlackBerry with better battery and new OS.
Bear it till Dec 2012
