Hi guys! I am a newly registered visitor, but I strongly need your help and advise on the following. I have BB 9900, and when I bought it I was using OS BB 7.0. In December I 2011, I downloaded the initial unofficial version of 7.1 (it ended on 074). At first, I was working pretty well, and I used the newest option Mobile Spot, which for me is pretty amazing. Unfortunately, all of a sudden, it disappeared from the menu. I tried everything reinstalling, restart, restoring of factory settings etc. I hoped that when the official 7.1 is released, there will be Mobile Hotspot, but unfortunately it was not included. I tried several 7.1 updates, as the last one was 7.1.0 bundle 648, but Mobile Hotspot was absent. I am looking forward for your advices!

It sounds like your using 7.1 Bundle 648 (7.1.0.205, Platform 5.1.0.181).

I'm using the same version and Mobile Hotspot is still there. The only thing different I'm doing is using the Hotspot cod from .74. This allows me to use it without having to sign up for the T-Mobile $14.99/month Mobile hotspot service.

I found this message on the 7.1 beta forum.

FYI starting on the 25th T-Mobile is offering the Mobile Hotspot for free if you have the $30 data package.

This sounds very much like my problem. It means that your carrier has disabled the feature via the service books. No way for me to get it back as of now. Speak to your carrier.

I saw that as well but couldn't find anything on TMO's site yet.

There isn't a way to circumvent your carrier's efforts to block it either. They have caught on and sealed all backdoors.
