If its really that bad for you and you dont want a third party extended battery why not buy an official spare? Its cheaper than a new phone and its not a bad idea to carry a spare battery anyways. Wall chargers are cheap too.

i would personally love to have a third party extended battery, but as long as it's the same size as the original... this exists with all OS 5 and OS 6 compatible devices (not sure about torch and style) why doesn't this exist for OS 7 blackberries?
I don't want to increase my phone's thickness three times... my blackberry needs to fit in my pocked comfortably and so that it doesn't look like i'm really happy to see someone :p
just with a cursory look I found this on the forums:
X-Level PDA Battery for BlackBerry Bold 9900 - BlackBerry - null - MOMAX top brand in phone accessories
I bought an extended battery too on ebay from china. It has 1500mah or whatever the unit is and lasts longer than the oem. It fits just fine too, as if it was the same batterry just a tad thicker and heavier. There is a thread on that here

Yeah I know installing another OS is a PITA. .540 really is the one to have. After using .440, .474, and .503 I can say the others were marginal "at their very best". .540 is not a marginal upgrade. I will be sticking with .540 for awhile so I can spend time "Using My Phone" ;)
.540 made big improvements in UI speed. Much bigger than the small increments in .440, .474, .503 etc. It is my personal opinion that this increase in UI performance is responsible for greater battery life. I realize this phone will not have battery life like an old 8310 with a 1500MAh battery but I do think part of the problem is software related and the updates seem to be coming out quite often.
Just something to consider when trying to maximize battery life. Maybe it would be worth it to try .540. The spinning hour glass and slow moving UI and the problems it causes with your apps are definitely wasting your prescious battery life. :)
