    Hey All,
    I have my 9900 in a case-mate safe case and I got a 9000 leather pouch.
The 9900 + the case fits beautifully in the leather pouch but the magnet inside the pouch doesn't align with the 9900's trackpad to lock/unlock it cos the 9000 has the magnet below the keypad.
I'd like to have the holster lock/unlock feature so does anyone knows a way to do this?
    Thanks!

The trackpad itself has nothing to do with the magnet. I just got my 9900 and haven't used holster yet. Do you actually know the magnet is placed close to the trackpad?

Either way, this is the 2nd or 3rd generation of BB since they moved the magnets somewhat. Using an old hoster and a new BB (or vice versa) for some people will result in apps being opened when holstering and/or un-holstering the BB.

What features are you looking for? There are a few? You can opt to have a new message opened upon un-holstering, for example.

Yes I know for a fact that the 9900's magnet is underneath the trackpad whereas that of the 9000 is underneath the center of the keypad.
The feature I need is to have the phone locked automatically upon holstering and have it unlock automatically and open the most recent message upon unholstering, just as usual with all BBs.
Has anyone modofied the 9000 pouch in a way to allow this?

Any BB is put into Standby upon holstering, which I believe is what you meant by "locked automatically."

If you have a Password enabled and want it to Password-Lock upon holstering, you have that option too:
Open Options app (wrench icon) and type "lock." Select Password. You'll see a checkbox for Lock Upon Holstering.

For holstering & unholstering, you have a couple options:

In Messages app, click MENU (i.e. BB logo key), click O for Options and select Options. Select 1st item, Message Display and Actions. Scroll to very bottom and 2nd-last item is Auto Open Newest Message After Removing Device From Holster.
Check that box if you wish this to work.

In Options app, select Call Management, then 1st item In-call Settings.
The top section is Answering Calls where you can opt to Auto End Calss Into Holster and/or Auto Answer Calls Out Of Holster.

If the magnets don't line up, the sleeper function will not work. You either need to get a case, holster combo specific to your device that include the magnets, or rig your 9000 holster with magnets that line up properly.

From personal experience 9000 holster works fine "as is" with the 9900.

My Rogers phone came with the stock BB9900 holster. I take it that this isn't true for every carrier?

How is everyone but kjjb0204 missing the message in the OP's post? The OP wants to use an old 9000 holster to hold his 9900 which is in a Case-Mate case (a case inside a holster). The OP isn't looking for settings to enable/disable holster functions. The OP isn't concerned with the OEM holster for the 9900. The OP wants to know what to do to make the magnet work with this case-in-holster setup.

As kjjb0204 pointed out, you have two options: get a case/holster combo made for your device (such as the Seidio products), or physically modify your 9000 case to move the magnet into the correct position.

Mine does not. 9800 case (that looks and works remarkably identical to the 9000 case) does not put the 9900 to sleep.

The OEM 9000 Koskin holster (the one with the bottom corner cutouts) works perfectly with the 9900 and most slim cases, including the Otterbox Commuter. I'm using one myself. This has been stated over and over and over and over in almost every one of the numerous "9900 case/holster" threads on here. Does your 9000 holster have the corner cutouts?

***EDIT*** - For the record, the sleeper switch is indeed under the trackpad. I took the magnetic flap of my holster and placed it over the keypad. Nothing happened until I slid it up over the trackpad.

Magnets in 9000 and 9800 cases are not in the same place. And I highly doubt a 9800 case will take a 9900 in a case.

Thanks for the reply guys, ifarlow is correct. That is exactly what I mean.
The only pouch I could get it the 9000 oem one which is everything I need except that the magnets don't align
Palomartian, I'm interested to know which pouch you have, it would be awesome if I can modify my pouch to make it work.
    Thank you again.

I have the OEM case that came with my ATT 9000. It has the cutouts in the bottom corners. I wouldn't know Koskin from foreskin, but the thing looks like it might be a high end fake leather. I drop my naked 9900 in there it goes to sleep. I pull it out it wakes up. Screen in or out, it works the same. Plenty of leeway too. I can move it at least half an inch before anything happens.

This is the pouch I have, and the magnet is located 1,5 inch from the bottom.

I think it is the belt clip 9000 cases that work. They probably have a bigger and stronger magnet than the pouch because the magnet also holds the flap of the holster shut.

That pouch thingy is different. Mine has the flap and the belt clip.

Correct, that's the Koskin, the one I have. The magnet in mine sits just above the trackpad when my 9900 w/Commuter is in the holster.
