I just switched back to the 9900 after about two weeks on the 9810, battery out of the phone, fully charged when pulled out. On start up, battery was at 71%, meaning they lose charge just sitting in the box all lonely and stuff.

No big deal, but I wonder if when they ship the phones from the factory, are the batteries fully charged? All my phones (including other brands) came between 20-40% on the day I bought them.

Likely. Is a defect with the battery then as they are made in one country and then finalized in another. But what I have to say is if you do get an external battery charger like the one I got off ebay for $9 then it will actually fully charge your battery. The charger, in my honest opinion is not actually telling you the truth on how much it's been charged. On mine, once the LED is blue, it's fully charged. Then I just pop it right back in. Sure it takes 6-8 hours to slow charge it, but it does what the seller said it would do.
