For BBOS to work fully, you need BIS period. If you don't have BIS get a device such as Nokia etc.

BBM and the integrated email will not work

You'll be able to access web-based email e.g. the mobile versions of Gmail and Outlook over Wifi, through your browser app only

I believe logicmail will work, from my experience just using a BlackBerry without a SIM. So im connected to wifi, everything will work other than bb email and bbm.

I'm not 100% but it does work for me.

i think you can still have 3G like an apple or android plan but no BIS. your 9900 wont be very useful. no BIS should buy BB10 devices instead. i have a 3G plan with no BIS and I have z10 and 9900 so i know. no BIS 9900 is just a phone not a smart phone.

    ivak110,

With the 9930 in the US you can install the anworm service books to get data to work on the Blackberry. Of course BBM and the other BB apps that require BIS/BES won't work. Since your not in the US and using a 9900 GSM, not sure if you can get anything to work. From the posts above it sounds like you will not be able to get data to work. Best of luck.

But how about Over wi-fi or 3g ?

    Ivak110,

It might work over wifi, but I can't say for sure. I just bought a 9900 on ebay and will try to see if the browser works without a sim card. I use Logicmail on my 9930 to check email. It should work with many email clients IF wifi works.

Without some sort of service books you will not get data to work over 3g. Talk and Text should work. No MMS or data without service books.

As you know , you need BIS for BBOS.
    Wihout it , you can't use email / BBM...etc.

    Using WIFI :
Logicmail (for email - works but disconnects often )
Whatsapp , Viber ( they work well , funny since BBM won't )
Opera Mini ( native browser works but OM is faster )

Honestly if you want to use a device on WIFI alone - go with BB10 or Android (you can also use BBM) . It is less complicated !

Yes I know what you mean.

The 9900 is great looking , solid build and is comfortable to use.

However if it can't perform how it should , ( on BIS ) your love will quickly turn to hate !

Btw , do you already own one ?

Does Shangmail or Logicmail works fine? How about notifications?

Shangmail or the English version - Hudeemail worked fine.( with a delay in mail delivery ) Unfortunately , as of last year is no longer available.

Logicmail worked , except it would always disconnect. ( others have said it worked fine )

Notifications on home screen worked well.

I think I should go for Logicmail! Thanks for information!
Sorry for so many questions! Is Logicmail works with yahoo mail too?
I don't use bbm so much but mail is somehow necessary!

You got a z10, so bis is not needed. As long as you have data plan, all should be fine. (wifi or cell) .

While using logicmail , I had a yahoo and gmail account.
The gmail worked quite well , while the Yahoo account kept disconnecting.
