    just downloaded it now.

I'm reluctant to stray from .794 as it's been very good to me, but I'm bored and still have to wait at least 2 weeks for a new z10

I'll try and update once it's up and running

Here's my updated OS install guide if anyone needs a refresher...

    ELITE1's OS UPGRADE GUIDE
    (updated 2012-09-01)

    1. (Optional) Uninstall any previous OS from PC.
    2. Download OS to PC. Use Internet Explorer, not Firefox or Chrome. (For leaked versions, browser is irrelevant.)
*If 100% certain you previously used FF or Chrome on same PC to DL an OS successfully, feel free to use FF or Chrome again.
    3. Following successful DL, run OS file to install OS on PC.
    4. On BB, go to BBM Options, scroll down to Backup section. Ensure Remote Backup is enabled AND also conduct a Local Backup to media card.
    5. Go through any 3rd party apps with option to save settings to media card. Conduct Backup to media card within each of these apps. (Examples: Bellshare apps like BerryBuzz & BerryWeather; QuickLaunch; Shao's apps like Wallpaper Changer & SixTools; etc).
    6. Connect BB to PC. Open DM and backup device. Close DM.
    7. (Optional) Use desktop app like BBSAK or BBMCP to backup 3rd party apps.
    8. On PC, delete Vendor file located here:
      64-bit: Computer/C:/Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Research In Motion/AppLoader
      32-bit: Computer/C:/Program Files/Common Files/Research In Motion/AppLoader
    9. (Optional/Recommended) Run BBH Tool (formerly Shrink-A-OS) or BB Boss v2.2 (not as updated as BBHT).
    10. In same AppLoader file where you deleted Vendor, double-click Loader to load OS to BB. Follow onscreen instructions.
    11. After loading OS, perform several physical battery pulls over first 1-2 days for OS to "settle in." Perform first batt pull very soon after OS is loaded.

    **TROUBLESHOOTING**
How to Fix OS not Appearing as Available
    There are 2 common reasons:

    A. HIDDEN VENDOR FILE
Consider trying this new desktop app to remove Vendor from several common locations:
    http://forums.crackberry.com/blackbe...-files-709738/

If manually deleting Vendor, always hold down SHIFT and press DELETE to permanently delete.
    Check here first:
    64-bit: Computer\C:\Users\{USER NAME}\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
    32-bit: Computer\C:\Documents and Settings\{USER NAME}\Application Data\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
If Loader still doesn't make new OS available, search PC for "Vendor".

If Vendor is not found anywhere, see below to delete contents of AppLoader folder. (Folder where you found Loader & Vendor.)

    B. APPLOADER FOLDER ITEMS
    1. Uninstall the OS: Control Panel\Programs and Features, highlight this BlackBerry Device Software, click Uninstall at top.
    2. Delete AppLoader folder contents: Highlight any item, CTRL+A to select all, SHIFT+DELETE to permanently delete.
      64-bit: Computer/C:/Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Research In Motion/AppLoader
      32-bit: Computer/C:/Program Files/Common Files/Research In Motion/AppLoader
    3. Restart PC.
    4. Re-install OS on PC: Go to your browser's downloads section, double-click OS to start InstallShield Wizard.
    5. Delete Vendor: Return to AppLoader folder, highlight Vendor, SHIFT+DELETE.
    6. Load OS to BB: Attach BB to PC, double-click Loader (in AppLoader folder, where you deleted Vendor).

PS I've posted this before in other threads, but there always seems to be some people that appreciate a step-by-step each time.

That's not specially for this OS installer Try any other app install you'll see the same.

Latest windows update makes that problem (even while you trying to install microsoft made apps)

Not sure if this is Windows XP only problem (yeap I'm still on XP Downgraded Vista to get it :P) There's option to stop that warning.

Right Click "My Computer" select properties, find "Driver Signing" under Hardware tab, click on it and select "Ignore - Install the software anyway and don't ask for my approval". Close all opened windows and you're good to go.

    Cheers!

If you're asking this for more languages?, just install 7.1.0.825 to your PC, open BBHTools, Shrink a OS, select .825 and shrink languages you want to install w/ 7.1.0.861 (dont get languages exist on 7.1.0.861 - they are _en_GB, _de, _es, _fr, _hi, _id, _it, _ko, _th, _vi, _zhCN and _zhTW - no need to downgrade cods for them.

    Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\" and copy all files in 9900/7.1.0.825/Java/RemovedFiles and move them to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9900Asia_v7.1.0.861_P5.1.0.606\Java\

Uninstall 7.1.0.825 from you PC, Shrink 7.1.0.861 as you want, delete vendor files and install 7.1.0.861 (don't forget to select languages you want on Loader.exe window)

just finished installing .861 and so far it runs the exact same as .825. the only difference i see so far is that when you use a custom font and you press alt+shift+H, the help me screen is displayed in the default font. with previous os's your custom font would carry over to the help me screen.

Updated from .825 to this one yesterday, and the horrendous memory leak is no longer there. Don't wanna put an evil eye on it, but so far my memory is stable and not going down like there's no tomorrow (like it used to be with .825). Overall, this version of OS looks snappy and working pretty fine. No glitches or lags.

But that damned annoying bug with super-loud USSD requests (e.g. *100# to check my balance) is still there. I guess it's just freakign invincible! )))))

I quite like this one. It does seem more slightly smoother than .825. Haven't had much of a chance to see if it holds a signal better. The browser experience is almost certainly better, brower doesn't crash as much anymore. Battery also seems ever so slightly better. I would recommend this one.

Yes, I had the same thought. Not the usual amount of posts since 861 surfaced. I would love a Z10 but can't justify the full retail and still got 13 months to go with my 9900 contract.

The click sound on reboot seems to have gone with this build and the signal strenght seems to be better than .825.
The sfi seems to run a tad cooler than .825 is also a good sign.

If initial observations are anything to go by then we have a pretty decent OS (.861).

Will keep you posted for further findings !

Actually I don't have the same experience with the temperature - looks to me it is bit hotter than 825. In fact, if device not in use it is cooler than 825, but if using it for a while, then temp jups quite a lot (more than 825).
Have hit 34-35C once, which never had happen on 825

Looks like another bust in the .sfi department.

Back to the trusty .714 "fat" .sfi for the next Hybrid install it would seem.

temp jumps could be due to bad network area or a network outage in your area/ carrier. I have had temp ranging from 17 deg celcius when idle and maximum of 26-28 degrees when in heavy usage ( calls, browsing etc.)
