    BlackBerry Handheld Software v7.0.0.1549 (Asia)

    Package Version: 7.0.0.1549
    Consisting of:
    Applications: 7.0.0.317
    Software Platform: 5.0.0.515
    File name: 9900Asia_PBr7.0.0_rel1549_PL5.0.0.515_A7.0.0.317_V odafone_New_Zealand.exe
    File size: 192.62MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

    Download Software Here

Instructions for installing on the 9900:
    1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
    2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
    3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process may take up to 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a black "BlackBerry" screen with a status bar for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again, and it should load the OS to the device.

Vodafone dropped the prices of the 8520/9300/9800 a couple weeks ago, telecom recently removed the 9000/9700 from their website and now this, release cant be far off now.

Initial typical downloading, reinstalling apps with associated reboots brought my batt down by 22% in one hour.

(Thanks to my freshly won Vorino Battery Tracker app from Crackberry. WOOT)

    It's not looking that good...

if this is anything like the leak (i think there's no difference) then battery life was terrible for me .353 is definitely better. Just trying to save some time for those that want feedback.

Thnx man! I'll give it a few more hours! But so far, just being idle it's draining more than 10%/hr. Terrible.

Do you have the link for the .353 there by any chance?

Been using it for a day now and the battery seems to have improved. I was using the pre-loaded version prior.

At the moment I have 7.0.0.296 on my 9900 (preloaded out of the box, so I didn't have to update anything yet)

    - I'm very curious... how does .317 perform compared to .296?
Is it any better, and will the battery life be better too?
(for me the battery life is the main reason why I would update in the first place)

I'm currently on Rogers .261 trying to install the official Vodafone os.317 for my Bold9900.

I followed the steps given in the OP...

Downloaded the os file to my pc and installed it.
    Deleted the vendor file
    Ran the loader.exe
Followed the instructions on screen but it finished installing almost instantly.
And won't actually load the os onto my phone...

    What am I missing/doing wrong?

Have you tried rebooting your computer?

Sometimes when I install new OS's I need to reboot the computer (or restart all blackberry services running) before it recognizes that I have a later version of the OS installed.

    Maybe give that a shot.
