I am at the end of my tMobile contract. I have a Blackberry Bold 9700 that is in great shape. I am undecided on the value of purchasing the Blackberry Bold 9900. It doesn't seem to provide much more capability than I already have with the 9700; and at least one case it has lost capability that I use frequently (UMA). No need to discuss the RIM promise that UMA is coming or what the phone will/could be.
Would you all give me a good reason to make the jump to the 9900.

I had the 9700 and jumped to the 9900. Bigger screen, a LOT faster, amazing keyboard, making typing fun and top it off with touch. Best decision I made and never looked back. Hope that helps.

Agreed. Go 9780, especially if you don't want to lose UMA ability plus the Virtual Vault application.
i love the touch/keyboard combo - typing on the 9900 is really like typing on clouds.
I would go into a store and play around with the phone to see if you like the feel of it in your hands. I made the switch from the 9700 to the 9900 and love the bigger keyboard as well as the touchscreen combo. It was a bit thin at first but I've since added a case mate barely there which makes it a tad bit thicker and feels great in the hands.

On the 9900 the keyboard, the screen, the speaker and the speed are better. But the battery life is half. And the camera has no real macro mode.
Hold out for the 9790. Should be lovely!!!

RIM cannot promise what is not theirs to implement. UMA is a carrier enabled feature. If I can use UMA on my 8520, then you will be able to use it on your 9900/30.
Im using 9700, but i bought my wife a 9900, if you ask me, ill be sticking to my 9700 for now :)
To the battery life...I have experienced the best since 8330. Similar in fact. The bold is a fantastic device.

You don't really realize what an upgrade it is to move from the 97xx to the 9900, until you have done it. I had a 9000, a 9700, then a 9780, and now the 9900. I have to say, the 9900 is in a class of its own. It is incredibly fast, has the best hardware I have ever experienced on any BlackBerry or any phone for that matter, has a great speaker, and overall is just impressive.
I have had Android and iPhone users ask "what kind of phone is that?" and then ask to see it.. and have gotten responses like "I can't believe that's a BlackBerry.. it's like a real phone now" and "That is a serious BlackBerry.."
I can only equate it to something like Harry Potter.. if you liked the books, you'll love the movie.. So if you like your current Bold, you will absolutely love the new 9900
Kept the 9700 for my wife to use (a blackberry newbie switching from Nokia :p) and got a 9930 for myself.

I switched from a iphone 4 to the blackberry 9930 and couldn't be more satisfied. I have had all os before and by far this is the most impressive blackberry to date. You won't be disappointed.

I too went came from the 9700, 9780 and then to the 9900. The 9700 is amazing and had no complaints. The 9900 only adds to that platform imo.
I have been doing alot of research on the 9900, i currently have the 9700 with T-Mo. It almost seems split for those who say 9900 compared to those that say stay 9700 or go 9780.
From what those you who hav switched from the 9700 what has been the biggest benefit in the change that you have noticed? Also, with the OS7 what have you found you like or dislike about it? Also have you had any problems with apps bought on on the 9700 not working with OS7? These are just a few of the questions i have about switching but these are some of the most important ones IMO.

I've had 9700, Torch and 9780. Now on a 9900. Love the touch screen and keyboard, only thing I miss about the 9700/9780 is the form factor. 9900 feels big in my hands (am such a girl sometimes). Perfect size for me in terms of my favourite ever BB was the 8520. Curve k/b not for me, though.
If you're undecided, why not wait and see what the rumoured new 9790 is like? Same form factor, OS7 and touch screen? Sounds perfect.....
I have both and they are both fantastic. i would say the 9900 is better for me as I'm faster on the 9900 typing because of the larger board. You wouldn't think it but the slightly larger screen size really helps web viewing. For me it would be some what hard to go back now.
I would go for 9780 instead of 9900 considering the price difference :)
