That they moved the micro USB input in a more convenient place!!!

I hate when my battery runs low on my bb 9650 and I have to type with the cable plugged in, it's so annoying and uncomfortable. With the new input being on the upper left side of the 9900's, this is just another reason to want this phone more (albeit a small reason)

Kind of a useless thread I know but I was so excited that I had to share the news with the world lol.

    Here's some proof: http://tbreak.com/tech/files/bold9900_gallery2.jpg

um but the usb plug is at the upper left on the 9700 now. It doesn't interfere with my typing if I have it plugged in.

Totally agree! Whomever designed the power input on the 9650 should be flying rubber dog #### out of Taiwan! That placement is such an annoyance!

the 9700/9780 are different in design to the 9650, the 9650 is more like the 8900 was with the usb pluggin in by the end call key (half way down) on the right of the phone.

the 8900 has the charging usb port on the lower right hand side and it does interfere with my typing...

My sensation has the port on the lower left side and its ridiculous. Poor placement for sure.

DOH! Sorry, I forgot to update my device from when I first joined the site ( I used to have a 9700 back in the day, but since my work phone provider is VZW, im stuck with the 9650)

And yes, I agree on the poor placement Jason~. It's these little things that can really make a difference with phones. Apart from the lags on my 9650 and Pandora working whenever it feels like it, I find the misplaced micro-usb slot to be very annoying. Glad they fixed it from the 9700+ though.. I forgot it was moved already.

Edit: Updated profile thanks to blueyestm

I actually preferred it on the right side of the phone for when i was charging my phone in the car. Made it easy to keep the up right when charging it and needing to look a the phone. But I can learn to read the caller ID upside down, no big deal.

Charging port placement was one of the primary reasons I bypassed the 9650 and went with the 9670. I learned that I hated the right-side port with Tour.

Thanks for the info that it's on the upper left.

Yeah, the charging port on the Torch is on the lower left side, as well. Very annoying.
I would like to hear the explanation behind moving it there because it is the worst place ever.

Another annoyance is now only having one convenience key... Not very convenient.

I dont mind if it's on the left or right side, i just hate it when its in the way of typing/holding the device. If they would have swapped the right convenience key with the micro usb slot, even that would be acceptable.

But i definitely agree that the usb charge from top (or bottom) work best imo

    Hmmmm, sorta.

I do hate where it is now - I use it plugged in about 75% of the time, home, work or in the car. It rests between my ring and middle finger and I swear I have a little callous from where it digs into my ring finger. So that will be a relief. BUT, on the upper left, it will definitely contort/kink the car charger if I type/text with it plugged in (at red lights and rest stops of course )

One of the handy features of QuickLaunch, my convenience key launches 4 different functions, as does my Space key. Makes up for the loss.

Hmm that's a good question.. I'm guessing its just a reflection of some sort or a light source because the case is metal on the phone. I don't exactly know to be honest because I do not own this phone (yet).

You mean whoever designed the power input on the Tour 9630... they just recycled that phone for the 9650 so there wasn't much they could do to change that on the 9650, so it was some old sap that designed the R.I.P 9630
