If the battery fits, can it be cloned like the Chinese batteries with a decoder, at least this is a genuine battery?
There is also an extended 1900mAh battery for my T-Mobile G2 (it is actually a chichitec for the EVO4G) which is the exact size of the 9900 battery, only thicker, but it fits under the door but just some small plastic pieces at the top edge were different.
I reshaped the edges and tried to clone but that also failed....I think 1900mAh would have been great if I could have got it working.
We tried and it will fit yes (with a little force).
The problem is 9900 will not accept the battery in software that is different when it does the startup security check. You will get an icon on the screen that shows the battery and an X.
Would be great to get the extra juice though.
Be sure that you won't break the battery connector. A friend of mine tried to change battery's regularly and he broke off the connector lmao!
They are not the same. JS1 is slightly thicker. I'm sure RIM can make this battery work with software change only but it kind of kills the NFC so that's probably the reason.
Do you notice positive difference between the Momax battery and the OEM battery?
Hi there.
See my reports on Momex X battery. You will get around 18/20% from the 1400 battery, just be careful as will not pass security check [X] on anything higher than 7.1.0.2XX except version 7.1.0.437
Sorry but it does not work. During the launch of the 9220 in New Delhi, i had a word with one of the technical heads and before i could even pop up the question he told me, that's the first thing he also tried in his 9900 but no luck.
So now at least we know RIM can bring out a battery of the same dimensions with a bigger mAH so guess we have to wait for JM2 as someone said
The new JS1 and JM1 are virtually identical in every way apart from two things, electrical capacity, which you all ready know, and the plastic moulding has a very slight difference preventing insertion of the JS1 into the Bold 9900.
To allow it in, using a very small pair of wire cutters and/or needle files, its just a case of reducing down the little plastic guide, as such, in the bottom left hand corner looking into the back of the Bold 9900 battery area. The left bottom guide has effectively got to be taken down to the same size as the right bottom guide. Once done, the JS1 slides in and works a treat. :-)
I'm getting a full 2 days out of my Bold now using the JS1, with the extra capacity and the fact the battery is new.

Well, I spoke too soon. Its no longer working now and displaying on the screen the battery symbol with the X through it on the screen as experienced by everyone else. I installed an app update, and the phone requested I restart. So, restarted and nothing. And there was me thinking I had a special phone! lol
