my friend wants me to bring a 9900 gsm unlocked. they said tho that w iusacel they cant bbm. is there a way around this? i aprreciate any help like if i can do a download or upgrade here before i go. Thanks

You should be able to use the 9900 on Iusacell. They have that device listed on their website.

You will need to subscribe to a BlackBerry Data Plan service with them in order to use BlackBerry Messenger.

Iusacell is both CDMA and GSM. I use Iusacell sometimes when I'm roaming on Telcel. I have subscriptions to both providers. Iusacell just gives me better roaming rates. I dont have a problem BBM-ing on my 9930. I use GSM. Maybe they're not enrolled in a data plan? If they're pre-paid lines they can refer to this link for what to do.
