You realize that ATT is buying T-Mobile right (pending regulatory approval)? So eventually you will be back with ATT...

The deal is very very very far away from even closing.. NO way the DOJ lets there be 1 big GSM carrier, Granted all these little ones like Jolt, Simple Mobile, Etc are just small MVNOs.

I also think many will jump ship and grab this phone along with the great service tmobile offers.

It's as good as done. It's about wireless carriers, not GSM vs XYZ. Since both Verizon & now Sprint are going LTE, it's pretty much a moot mute now to say "GSM vs".

Why go to a carrier for a device, especially when it will be coming to AT&T?

Switch carriers over a phone? Patience bro... Tmobile maybe cheaper but I love the roll over and unlimited free cell phone calling. Sell your iPhone 4 and pick up an unlocked Rogers BB 9900.

at&t is not worried about people switching to other carriers because the iphone 5 is the first priority.they know iphone 5 will sell like hot cupcakes.at&t knows that the bb platform is no longer the same as before.its not a hot commodity right now.so pushing any new bb to later won't effect them.so at&t is not worried and thats a fact whether you like it or not.

I say Go ahead and make the switch mike.. Get locked into a cheaper rate plan with tmobile before deathstar swallow us all up and jack up their prices.
I recently upgraded to Unlimited everything for 2 lines which total to ~ $114 after taxes..
Rep said it will be good after the merger and for life..

He would only get EVDO with the rogers 9900 on ATT though since its not the same carrier correct? I doubt he would pay 600 dollars to not even be able to have 3G on his phone.

No thats not correct. Rogers has the same 850/1900 3g bands as att, plus EVDO is cdma. Think you meant edge

The deal is done. The actual takeover will be just after the first of the year.

Not so. He would get full 3G. Rogers does AT&T perfectly except for visual voice mail and I hear you can even get that going if you want.

Any T-Mobile uses different frequencies for their 3G. AT&T has already said they are going to use those frequencies for something else so a T-Mobile phone might not get 3G on AT&T when the merger is final.

From what I have seen in the forums in multiple places, he will have 3G.
