I want the BB Bold 9930 with sprint, but everyone says their coverage is horrible. How bad can it be? Any Sprint customers have comments or feedback 2 help me in my decision making?

If coverage is solid in your area your good to go.
Best way to find that out is to do 30 day risk free trial don't port number until your sure its for you
I had a run in with Sprint so I can't be objective about them as a bureaucracy. As for how you will like them, that depends on coverage. Get the phone, test it where you need it to work, and make the call (no pun intended). If you can't afford the small investment involved in making a purchase and return, how in the **** are you going to handle a multi-year contract on a device you can't use?
That is area dependent. But for me, yes it is that bad. So god awful.
have had Sprint for 9-10 years now.
they roam on verizon towers...in fact i can set the PRL on my evo4g to use Verizon towers first. No difference in coverage, difference in speed and latency etc.
However, Sprint is fine in my AREA
and that basically is what it comes down too. You have, like stated, a 30 day grace period, take the phone everywhere you go, make sure it works, if it doesn't, return it.
and for me the coverage has been awesome and always getting better. been a happy customer with them for the last 10 years.
What every one else said, you have to check your area. My place, sprint is not that well. I go outside and I'm better but no wimax. I go to work and bars galore.
Love Sprint... If coverage is good in your area and so is Verizons to roam on if needed you are good to go. Even better if you had Alltel in your area at one time because those are 3G roaming towers.

I am in NY and its hard 2 have bad coverage here, so i am shocked my NY friends are telling me they are horrible and not 2 do it. They have Sprint also. Do u get charged for using Verizon's towers?
I am gonna try it for 30 days. I tried it last time for 30 days and the reception was fine, but it was bad in my apartment & Sprint offered me a free 'AIRAVE' to increase coverage in my home, but i declined and returned it within 30 days.
I really want the BB 9930, but T-Mobile 299.99 pricetage hurts!
Nope roaming is free with Sprint. Take the airrave this time if offered. I used to use one when i lived in a bad coverage area and it was great.

In my area Sprint is pretty good, It just depends on where you live at.
Sprint was great where I lived but I did a lot of traveling into areas where there was more cows than people so I switched to Verizon.
Honestly I moved to Illinois about 4 years ago. And where I lived service was terrible. But they have since improved in leaps and bounds. Where my service wouldn't work before, I was getting awesome reception. I love their customer service and really would never go back to Verizon. Unlimited Everything helps too, LOL
Sprint is great in my area (NY, Long Island/NYC area). Like they said, you can roam on Verizon for free, but I do not really roam much, and its free so I don't really care if I do. Plus I pay 1/3 of what I paid for my Verizon plan and get more mins/free mobile to any cell phone any company.
If you live in washington it's a no-brainer - Sprint is hands down the best carrier, period. I've been on all the carriers and if Sprint services your area you will not only pay much less for your service plan it will be better than either AT&T or VZ.
The first thing you will notice is that Sprint's data is FASTER - I carry a company issued ipad with their 3g service and a Bold 9650 fed by Sprint. My blackberry loads pages faster than does the ipad.
If I'm using the ipad at home at connect it to my wifi the ipad is significantly faster than by 9650 connected to the same wifi. To me this means that Sprint is just far faster on 3g than AT&T.
As far as a carrier goes Sprint is as good as it gets IMHO.
I'm in the mtero-Detroit area, and I've never had a problem with Sprint service...I'd rate them very high. Like other posters have said 30 day back guarantee too.
In the Atlanta area, Sprint coverage is great. Much better than ATT or T-Mobile and on par with Verizon.
I used to have sprint a looooonggg time ago, like in 2001. I tried the EVO 3D and have to say I was more than impressed how service has improved and how solid it is.
Worst case scenario, you;ll be roaming on VZ towers for free. It's like having VZ for much cheaper.
my experience w/ Sprint was quite good. Yes, I have spotty coverage in my office but they all have certain dead spots. Other than that, it was good, didn't have major issues and the customer service was always helpful when I contacted them. They repaired the speaker on my Curve 8330 and when I picked it up I was pleasantly surprised to see they replaced the ball also. Now I am up for renewal on Sept 1st but they'll do an early upgrade so I can get the Bold 9930 on Aug 21st. I'm not saying the coverage is as good as Verizon 's but the price is lower and Sprint still offers unlimited data unlike any other carrier here.
I live in the SF bay area and its great here. no complaints.
