I used BB Boss to shrink it and I can't really tell how much it was shrank.

I am at 277MB system memory. I didn't see where this was at before I shank it.

    Is this an improvement?

I only did this as a test bc I am going to install OS 6 on a 9700 next weekend. It is running on OS 5.

Sounds good. I am at 232mb without using a 3rd party shrink. You gained at least 50mb. Nice!!

I find that BBHybrids pulls more out. Usually at ~ 220mb or so after a shrink but I pull out all the social apps, games, messengers, fonts etc.

Memory & App Storage are different things. I use BB Boss and I've got 240 mb free app storage on boot up.

Currently I have 265mb of app space. So I guess I'm not doing to bad.

BB Boss shows you the size of your Java folder in the status bar at the very bottom. Open it and check. I believe I shrank 7.0.0.440 from 164MB down to about 62MB.

you could always go into the OS folder on your computer and check the size of removed cods folder and compare it to the overall size of the whole java folder. simple subtraction will yield your answer. however, this wont necessarily reflect the size of your os on your phone. that will depend on what options you chose to install.
