I'm not sure, I wanted something simple again and the 9900 has caught my attention but so many issues? I just fired up my unlocked 9780 just to see if I could get used to blackberry again coming from Android for over a year now. I hope rim fixes the 9900 issues real soon, or even come out with a new device. I have an upgrade in early January and was thinking about using it on the 9900 but now Im not sure anymore.

I've had my 9930 since the end of August. And the only "problem" i've had was when I tried to download the update which added NFC. The phone locked up and I had to re-install the OS.

Other users on the forums recommended downloading/installing the update through the BlackBerry desktop manager, which I did and worked perfectly.

I had no problems for a few months but my fault i broke the screen.. Just make sure the 9900 is updated.
Just saying, sometime in january, 7.1 will be released (hopefully) and all these "issues" people have will be resolved by RIM.

This is a great phone. I can't identify any problems RIM has to fix. I think folks should keep in mind that a great many people will log on here only because they have an issue...while there may be many more people who are happy with their devices and just don't say anything.

It's a great phone. The only thing I could think of as another option would be the Bold 9790 but the keyboard on the 9900 is amazing!

I dont think at&t carries the 9790 and I'd be getting the upgrade with at&t. How would you guys say the difference is in all aspects from 9780 to 9900?

And just a general question, what differences will there be in the upcoming 7.1 and will the 9900 be compatible with bbx or bb10? Not sure if the latter are any different or the same. I've really been away from the bb world for a bit.

Not for sure if AT&T will get the 9790 or not, they might get it. 9900 is light years a head of the 9780. OS7 is a lot better then OS6 and the faster processor makes a huge difference.

The 97xx series are streamlined, scaled-down version of the 99xx. The 99xx will be a much better choice in terms of performance and speed.

If AT&T carried the 9790... I would definitely by it over the 9900. I always liked the size of the 9700 and assume I would prefer the better camera over the 9900.

My 9900 has been rock solid since the day I got it, mid-august.
But the 9790 also looks pretty appealing

Well if you read my original post, you'll see I mention "unlocked 9780"

I have an upgrade coming up 1st week of January, and hopefully I'll make up my mind by then. Right now, so far I'm good with the blackberry 9780. I'm going to the sites I usually go to, got my google voice app, beejive, emails. I didnt really play alot of games on android, and I definitely dont think the htc camera I was using is better than blackberry's. I might miss the video watching/playing in the browser.

This isn't the 9780 forum; this is the 99xx forum. So far, my 9930 has been as solid and stable as my 9650. Every device has issues, including the 9780.

You disregard the part where I said "and the 9900 has caught my attention" and I dont think i've asked one question about the 9780 in this forum. My last question was "Is the 9900 much faster than the 9780, not just processor fast but data connection fast as well?" which is obviously targeted at 9900 users that came from or are familiar with the 9780.

I regularly get 900-1200kbsp dl speeds ovet 4g/h+. My 98 and 97 would get max 250 if I remember correctly.
The (3g/H+/4G) browser (ovbiously) still has latency due to routing through bis
    Wifi is fast browsing

If tweaking the phone isn't your thing than maybe an iPhone or a new Android would be better.

Not bad. Just wondering since this is supposedly a 4G phone. I still dont believe in at&t's network upgrades.

Thats all I did on Iphone and especially Android. Tweak is all I did on Android. I actually came back to something simpler that just worked which is what I remember the Blackberry experience being minus the flash and 3d games etc that android has.
