    Hi everyone,

I am thinking of buying a used 9900 to replace an old IPhone. I do alot of email and text for work.

My concerns are support down the road (if BlackBerry gets broken up) as well how well the 9900 stand up for a year or more without software updates etcc....

I am crazy for wanting to get one and use it with my Playbook (which I enjoy) as well. Any thoughts are appreciated.

You still use a PlayBook and it works don't it? Are you expecting BBRY to just randomly shut off all the servers one day? Enjoy your new to you 9900.

Funny thing is... you can get the Z10 for 0 on contract while the 9900 is still reasonably priced.

The appearance of Z10 and Q10 made 9900/9930 Bold more valuable. I recently bought a 9930. I had to give up my Android community to join the BB community. So far, so good. I had to pay for apps, but it's all good.

I have been thinking hard the last couple weeks about firing mine up and selling my iPhone 5 especially with so many great mobile sites lately. I'll still have my Z10 especially because of the calendar (simply the best) and super fast Web browser. But the email and notifications on the 9900 and keyboard are so awesome.

I have been looking at many different devices over the last couple weeks to use on my work line. I ordered a 9900 on Amazon this morning. I also have a Z10 for my personal device, the 9900 will be used for work only and only communications. I looked at the Q10 and Q5, but they both just seemed like over kill for what I needed. Have heard nothing but good things on the 9900, so figured what the heck, worth a try. Looking forward to getting it up and running tomorrow and trying it out.

Can someone enlighten me as to where I can pick one up online? I'm looking for the AT&T version, new, from a legitimate site that has a legitimate BB phone that isn't a knock off & not crazy overpriced...

    Probably futile anyway...

Just bought one from amazon and got it yesterday. Was from a vendor Mango Wireless and full filled by Amazon prime. Has 30 day return. They had new ones listed for 269 and refurbished listed for 199. I bought the refurbished and it looks like brand new. The company stated the refurbished were either refurbished by BlackBerry or carrier returns. Box says refurbished.

Had new plastic on it, fired right up. Hooked it up to my computer and it updated the OS and everything went fine. Hope it continues but at least amazon has easy returns if there is a problem. Check them out.

Thanks, will check them out. I'm looking at either Verizon or AT&T. Just thought AT&T would be easier to locate as opposed to Verizon. I prefer to get a Bold Touch again with OS7. But am considering the Curve 9360 as a last resort. I like to have a big battery and the touch feature is a nice addition..

Love my Bold 9900 and am unlikely to buy another BB without a trackpad.
Tried the Q and Z10 for long times in store but they seem too hard to use in comparison. Only downside of the 9900 is that on BIS the browser is slow.
And just to contradict myself in one sentence I will look at the Z30 should it ever arrive down under.

Picked up a 9900, and I love it. Sure, some of the apps are not there, but the browser is good enough that the mobile sites work just fine.

Only thing crazier is buying a 9700 in 2013...oh wait...

I also ordered a 9900. Can't wait to get it. I'm thrilled to have the device again. It's THE best BlackBerry in my opinion. The only true BlackBerry anymore. The BB10 stuff doesn't give me the good shortcuts and trackpad.

After the Fairfax deal, or whatever else happens, settles I'm thinking of getting a 9900 for work. Right now I have an S4 as my work line, which is totally redundant when I have a personal 5S. It makes more sense for me to get a 9900, which has real advantages as a pure email/PIM solution.

The Bold 9900/9930 is still one awesome BlackBerry. My personal device is my Q10 and I still use my 9930 for work. Definitely not crazy, good choice

Not at all. The 9900/9930 is a timeless classic and you'd be making a sound investment. It is a gorgeous phone. And as somebody who had to use an iPhone 4S for six months as a work phone ... it blows the iPhone out of the water.
