What is the typical waiting period from leak to official release for AT&T? Will the carriers modify the OS for any reason? Is there any good reason to wait for the official release?

Carriers don't modify the OS, they may add the extra languages but that's about it. Other than that there's nothing different between the leak and an official. Just get the one from Turkcell if you want a carrier approved release.

^^^^^ this. Not a good idea to wait for at&t to do anything... I installed the turkcell release as soon as I got the phone and no problems yet. Superb battery life as well.

I also installed Turkcell's 540 and very happy with it, don't see a reason to wait when my wireless provider (at&t) will release new OS.

Just for clarification, 540 is 540 regardless of the carrier offering it. The 540 AT&T gets (assuming they release it) would be the same as Turkcell's.

For all the years my family has held BB smartphones on ATT we almost never run the official OS. The leaks and other official releases work very well on all BB phones. No need to wait for ASlowandSlow.

By the time AT&T releases .540, other carriers would have released 7.1 or even 7.2!
