My 9930 was too hard to take out of the OEM holster without accidentally pushing buttons, so I tried the suggested 9000 leather holster + OEM softshell. They worked beautifully for months, but now the softshell has stretched out and the side buttons are hard to work. The 9000 leather case has started to fold in on itself at the insertion edges, like the trodden-down back of a slip-on shoe. I want to go back to the OEM 9930 holster and try some kind of ultra-thin skin, but I don't know which.
I used to use the OEM leather pocket pouch, but since I've had issues with the charging pods, I've decided to use a real case. Now I'm using the Otterbox Commuter + Seidio Active Holster and these are terrific. I also have a non-glare SGP screen protector installed. If this 9930 had double the battery life it would be my perfect phone.
Went from OB commuter to Ion Ring to my most favorite pure NAKED! From my experience you can't scratch the screen in your pocket and nothing beats the grippy bevel on the back. Most of all you won't hardly notice it when pocketed. Hey is that a Blackberry in yer pocket or are you just glad to see me?
I had been carrying it naked in an OEM pocket pouch, but after I dropped it the other day I can now see the backlight leaking out between the headphone jack and micro usb port. I just ordered an OtterBox Commuter for under $18 with s&h.
OEM hard shell case, best case I've ever used by far

Although the 9000 leather case was better in terms of spacing . I could charge my phone AND had all the media keys available while it fit snugly in that case. It didn't allow me to see the LED indicator while in there though, but I don't use that feature with the 9900 case anyways. I miss the 9000's case features but ah well, small tradeoff
