When I pull my battery and then go to text messages, there is a list of several old texts. How do I eliminate them? Thanks

Go to the Text Message folder
    Highlight a date
Select "Delete Prior" from the menu

I just deleted every text message I had using delete prior with no problem on my 9930 running latest Os.

    Ok... I did two things:
    1. Deleted prior in the middle of my text messages so only half of the messages will be deleted. Did a soft reboot; SMS are deleted. Then a hard reboot; the SMS deleted are still not there.

    2. Deleted every single SMS thread using delete prior. Soft reboot; all are gone same for the hard reboot as well.

I am on the latest OS 7.1 leaked (7.1.0.267) and no matter what I do, I cannot reproduce this issue. OP, let us know what OS you are on.

I had the same problem as you on 7.1.205. I even went to Messages>Menu>View Folder and deleted them from the SMS Inbox & Outbox but every time I did a restart, they would reappear. When I upgraded to 7.1.267, they never came back.
