For those getting good battery life, do you have the phone of the OEM holster most of the time? For those have not so good battery life, do you have the phone in the holster most of the time.
I think the might be something to this..... The holster creating a lower signal to the phone...
Interesting concept, I do know when I leave my 9650 (otterbox commuter) in the OEM 9000 holster the battery life is approx 40% longer during the course of a day. I'm not sure if its because of the holster or that I just check it more often ( every 2 min) when its not in the holster.
When BlackBerry is in holster, it is using less battery because it is in a low power mode called Holster mode.
In that mode it will also ignore any keys being clicked. That means that LCD backlight (power hungry) is off and doesn't turn on for several seconds/minutes after each accidental key click.

I was referring too a possible signal loss while in the holster causing more battery usage to acquire a signal. But good info.
The holster won't increase battery life. While in the holster, it's the same thing as locking the phone and NOT touching it. Power levels remain the same in or out of the holster. I haven't used a holster for 3 years and my 9780 had better battery life. Holsters (OEM) generate no signal loss either, so that's not going to cause your battery life to deteriorate.
Here's one thing I have noticed though...leaked OS .440 absolutely DOES increase battery life by a good 10-20%. I can't say that about any previous OS. I have it running for 4 days now and there's no doubt in my mind that it is less battery intensive.
I always use a holster with all my BBs. I don't like the belt ones that usually come with the unit. I always buy the oem "pouch". The one that the unit goes into like an envelope. It simulates a lock and the keys and screen go dead. My 9900 batt rocks so is it that? Dunno, but I swear by those things.
ps.... the 9900 is one sexy beast. It's a pleasure to use it nude-- the way it was intended. With the pouch you get to protect the unit when it's in your pocket or on the table AND you use it bare when it's time.
