I noticed this with my 9700...whenever I launched native apps GPS would fail to connect but when I open up Google maps the GPS locks within seconds.

Today I had the same issue with Blackberry Maps and Traffic...GPS wouldn't lock until I launched Google maps and it locked within seconds.

What gives? Native apps can't get it to work but a third party app can do it? Is it a permissions thing?

    Anybody else experienced this?

Just speculating: could the installation of the google app affected the other apps such that google must be used to "wake" the gps and then the other apps work??

I have a 9930, I leave gps set to E911 Only. If I open an app that requires it, the popup will ask"Activate Gps?" I have never had any issues with gps whatsoever. But I don't use google maps. BB Maps works great for me.
