this does not work over wifi it says that'' Network unavailable: this application requires a data connection and some blackberry devices requires reconfiguration to work properly'' what should I do.

I had lots of problems with gmaps but now it works great.

try the following;

1 Remove the version of gmaps you have now and do a battery pull/reboot
2 switch on wifi & connect to your network
3 switch on gps and get a gps fix
4 install google maps again and ensure you give it access to stuff (you can change it later)
5 now try maps and see what happens.

I am presuming you have a BB data plan (BIS/BES)?
