I absolutely love the BB Bold Series!

I got the 9930 back in November and after owning it for 3days, my carrier, BTC in the Bahamas announced they were going to release 4G in mid December.

The 9930 does not support 4G on the 850MHz band so either I stay stuck on EDGE or switch devices.

When it was released, I compared the speed of the Torch (9800) on 3G to that of my 9930 on EDGE and I was like AWW **** NO! So I made the decision then to switch devices.

And a few days ago I got a deal for my 9930, sold it and was able to get the 9900, brand new, unlocked for $75 more than what I sold the 9930 for...so I'm happy!

good move, if i were in your shoes i'd probably do the same thing and for $75 more, thats a no brainer. You also gotta think that with the 9900 you're gonna have more leaks than the 9930 so that means more fun!!

Have to agree with citystars41. I only hear about how the 9900 has all the leaks but the 9930 is being shown no love. It has always been like that. What can you do? Easy, sell your 30 and pick up a 00. Nice move.

One reason is that most service providers in the world are either already on full GSM or switching to GSM. On to top of that in countries where most people can afford a mobile phone have large GSM companies grabbing most of the customers. I think that's why we have a large number of users are Bold 9900 and few are 9930. But I don't think the gap between the two are extremely large either.

    QUESTION....Best OS for the 9900?

Unlike the 9930, I didnt have many options. I ungraded the shipped OS on the 9900 to .585, but I'm having some issues. Phone is unresponsive and its jumping around.

For example, I got a call and no matter how much I pressed the call button, it wouldnt answer. Also, I was in settings adjusting some things and when I try to click or change something using the track pad, something that I didnt want or select happened.

    Any suggestions?

I do see the 9900 getting way more love than the 9930, I don't even think the 30 got a 7.1 leak at all...they just gave you an official...

Might sound stupid but is there that much of a difference between a leak and official????

I do know that its all carrier based but when using my 9780, T-mobile had some of the slowest OS pushes and if I didn't ever know about leaks I would have hated myself, cause I overall liked the .666, the battery life and performance of mine were amazing. I literally had that phone on for 3 days and it only went down to 60% being on for 72 hrs.

From what I've read of the leaked 7.1 for 9900 it's terrible. From what I've experienced with 7.1 for 9930, it's a world of difference from 7.0.

So which phone is better, the 9930 or the 9900? I've heard and read great reviews of the Sprint 9930.

I really dont see much of a difference.

I had the verizon build which out of the box was excellent, no problems whatsoever!

On the other hand, the 9900 I have is giving me all sorts of problems, I dont think its a "9900 vs a 9930" issue, just got stuck with a faulty device.

Its been very buggy! It freezes up and the buttons appear to stick, see picture, I'm carrying this one back.

Just in case this is a known issue that I can correct, I got the 9900 from my carrier, cant remember the OS it came loaded w/ but I upgraded to .585.

Came with pouch, not the belt clip, the old style wall chargers (havent seen those from the Gemini 8900), no micro sd card and a 12" usb cable (first time I've ever seen one).

As a long time Sprint CDMA user and Blackberry user who switched over to an HSPA provider all I can say is it is night and day for performance difference. Also love that I still get messages while still on the phone.
